Cayenne turbo S 2009 or 2012 Cayenne turbo

I am new to 6 speed!

I am looking at purchasing a Turbo S 2009 with PDCC and 60k miles
nice clean car with all services completed
price 34k

I kind of like the idea of a newer body style Cayenne but also love the idea of 550HP

the 12 cayenne turbo has the torque vectoring and the pdcc with 40k miles and complete service

I have read extensively on the two models but have not seen a comparison of hp and or handling between these two.
will I not notice the 50 hp lacking from the newer car?

the price of the 12 is 60k and it was a 126k car new so its pretty well equipped

does the redesign lose enough weight to make it handle that much better than the old model?

any info would be great

Thanks for the great site!

Go with the 12 and throw a tune in it.

I personally prefer the look of the '09, but if you like the look of the '12, that's the more modern car from an electronics (PCM) perspective. The does the '12 have the aluminum timing bolts that break issue which would need to be addressed or is that only '10s and '11s or only non turbos? My '09 CTTS doesn't have the issue so I haven't paid close attention to it.

Trying to parse that sentence..

I think you're asking if the '12 has the Variocam aluminum bolts.. and the answer would be no.

Actually AFAIK no '10 would have them either. They were newly introduced with the 958 series V8's (all V8's) and the 2011 model year. They were gone by 2012.

Somewhere I saw a writeup Porsche did on the new "all aluminum" Variocam timing adjuster - where it was made out of ALL aluminum to enhance rapid variations in timing making the engine more responsive (or some advertising talk along those lines..) I'll have to save it next time I stumble across it.. but at that point the aluminum bolts were considered a marketing plus!

Oh - to answer the OP - I'd go with the '12. Full service history, PTV and PDCC? Plus it was more than 10% lighter than the '09 /S - meaning the 10% additional HP wouldn't make the '09 any faster, if anything it's likely slower. There are LOTS of improvements with the 958 series over the 955/957 series.

Thanks Guys

I think I'm going with the 12

I just have to convince my wife that we dont have to have a black interior and that she "really does like Grey interiors!

Got to go with the 12. Pretty big leap forward from the 09 model.
