2010 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S winter tires

Just bought a used 2010 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S. Need winter tires. The tires I have now 295/35R21 Performance summer tires which are actually
dangerous in the snow. I find 21 inch very wide in winter, my experience has been much better control in snow with narrower tires. Any recommendations on what I should be looking for a good winter tire size and rims. Apparently for these cars you needs special aluminum rims. Midas is quoting me a 255/55 R19, with rims for about 2,800.00 Canadian.
Thanks guys!
Philippe

I have the Spyder 20" rims for my Cayenne. I'm using the Blizzak winter tire. Not the most appealing tire in regards to its appearance due to its aggressive sidewall tread but, its performance is exceptional! Tire width is also narrower at the tread to assist with tire bite.

Car is very predictable. Some reviews state bad wet traction but, I haven't found this to be true.

Next option would be a studded tire setup if you need more.

I have a 2006 Turbo running 20" wheels. I've been using Pirelli Scorpion Ice&Snows (N0 rated) now for two seasons and love them. I use them regularly in Calgary and Fernie and they see lots of deep snow (we had 1m a week ago). Of course if you push a 5000lb vehicle too far any tire will slide under those conditions so a lighter touch is required. They have a ton of siping and work well on ice. The deep tread blocks are OK in deep snow and rain.

255/55R19 is not the correct size for the Cayenne. It should be 255/50R19.

2014 Cayenne Turbo S
Summer tires: 21" standard wheels, PZero
Winter tires: 19" Blizzak (think 255/50/19) and OZ wheels. Got them on Tire Rack.

The winter tires are overkill for where I live but I drive up to St. Louis & KC as well as usually a road trip to CO for skiing.

Ride comfort better with winter tires (more sidewall); handling diminished but as long as you don't push it too much, it's fine. Snow & ice handling are phenomenal. Have had studded tires in the past and the Blizzaks are at least that good but much less noise than studded.

Mine has 21" Scorpion Winters on it. They seem to handle quite well on dry roads, but I've not driven in the snow yet with them.

I just had 275/40/20 Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow tires mounted on these wheels:

I may be looking to sell rather than keep them as I may be acquiring a winter beater. Let me know if you're interested in buying the package. I'll get it to you for FAR cheaper than the 2800...
