The Don't Post Your Work To Gain Exposure Thread

Not sure why, other than soliciting for business, there are some new registered professional detailers posting pictures of their work here. So I've decided to make a thread that lets the members know that there are irresponsible professional detailers out there that have no respect for the three detailing sponsors that are here on 6speed. Between Detailing Dynamics, Detailer's Domain, and Glistening Perfection, there's enough knowledge and sound advice that we don't need other detailers "helping" our fellow 6speed members. How dare you guys come in here and think you can promote yourself. The three of us take 6speed seriously and care about its content and members; consider this a warning before you're permanently banned and made an example of. You've already shown your ethics and morality, or lack there of. I'm sure your current clients would be proud!

Fellow 6speeder, please don't condone this negative behavior on our site by responding and praising the posts of those that only care about showing off a car and their work. We need your support to keep this forum content-rich and a place you want to learn from.

We'll keep adding to the list as we find new members that care more about their ego and getting exposure than adding content and making this a better board.

So you are the only one that can post photos of cars that you detail? That you are the only ones in the WHOLE united states on this board that can talk about detailing questions or show photos of your work? Thats BS. I know that I am not a sponsor but I am not out trying to capture clients by showing my work. I hope that by showing some photos of vehicles that I have done and explaining what products I used to get the results that it might help others in their detailing of their vehicles. There is much better stuff out there than Zymol, P21, and other products I read about on this board and by letting others see what some of the other products can do for their car, maybe it can help. What a joke.

But dude, c'mon, you have a website as a your registered username that directly promotes your business. I mean, who wouldn't be mad when they pay a hefty price tag to become a sponsor and see others soliciting like that?

So what if my nick is my company name. Even if i change my nick to say phatboy I cant post photos of cars that I detail? Come on? Like me posting photos of cars that I have detailed is really going to affect someone else's company profits...esp when I am what 1000 miles away from them? They are sponsors so they can SELL products. To say I cant put my 2 cents in when someone has a detail question is just BS. And also not letting other detailer's showcase some of their work? I love to see other detailer's work, find out what they used and how long its taking them. I am self taught and thats how I got to where I am today.

First of all, I would just like to state that I have recieved an email from the senior members stating that I can not offer services on 6speed a few days ago. It did not however state that I can not post pictures of my work. I have to agree with detailwerks in that I love to show the pictures of the cars that we do just because of the kind of cars we detail. It also gives insight in what products other detailers are using and what results they are achieving. I did not know before that I can not offer services and will never do it again. As for posting pictures of our work, if a senior member would PM me and let me know if I can or can't do this, I will take whatever action necessary not to disappoint fellow 6speeders. I DO NOT RESPECT however the way Moe acted in making up this thread and putting my name on the list. You should have contacted me first and discussed the situation with me. That was a childish thing to do and I believe you are the one lacking morals. Once again I am sorry if I angered any members and will be waiting for a reply from a senior member to resolve this issue. Thank you for your time..Paul W.

I totally agree and will be waiting for a reply about this issue from a senior member as well. If my nick is upsetting the masses then why did it let me pick it in 2006 when i signed up on this board? But still I don't see the damage of posting photos of cars that we or others have detailed. There are other great detailers either professional or just a hobbiest out in the world and I for one would not mind seeing there work and finding out what products they use.

Thanks for proving my point....for us it's not about the $$, it's about the trust and respect that has been earned here for the past few years. And guys like you think it's OK to chime in and "help". It's like showing up to a party uninvited and handing out business cards; real classy.

Did you ask any of the three sponsors if we minded you posting? This forum is different than other boards. It's not a community bulletin board for professional detailers that have a vested interest in promoting themselves.

detailwerkz.com Feb 7, 2008 11:10 PM

OMG..u mean I had to be born into this board? Thats a crock of crap if I have ever heard it. What does it mater if I joined when this board started or just yesterday? This is a public forum and there will be folks who join daily including maybe other detailers.

So you are saying that if they join today they cant help other folks with something they might know about? What a joke.

So all the other detailers or folks that might have knowledge about something can not post in this "detailer" forum? That you are the only ones that can post in this forum? I don't recall seeing that in the rules? Could you point that out for me please or have some Sr. Mod, owner of the board call or PM me about this so called rule.

paul w. Feb 7, 2008 11:14 PM

Listen buddy..who ever said its about the money. So what you are trying to say is that the owners of those three companies are the only people allowed to reply to threads in the detailing forum. IS THAT WHAT YOU ARE SAYING? If so, that just does not make any sense at all. We need a senior member to chime in and let us know what we can and cant do. Just to let you know, you dont have to tell me about trust and respect. I respect every person I meet until they do me wrong and I can tell you right now, you have no respect from me. The way you handled yourself in this thread is unexcusable. I answered to your thread very respectful and apologized for any wrong doing that I may have done. You jumping down my throat and bad mouthing me is not very CLASSY AND RESPECTFUL!!!

Imaj Feb 7, 2008 11:30 PM

I have to give my two cents here. I feel that there is no wrong doing here Moe. I do not see a list of rules stating that only certain people can share thoughts, views and pictures. I know Detail Works personally and did mention for him to come here. So it is me that should be getting the stern talking to Moe. I am sorry if I have created problems for you and everyone else here. That was not my intention. You know me Moe...We have spoken to each other on the phone and I only buy product from you. But, I would like to ask if you and the other two (Detailing Dynamics, Detailer's Domain) sponsors could ease up a bit on this that would be great. I know Brian is a great person who is well resected in the area that he covers here. Cheers!

If you want to post pictures of your work (obviously being a prefessional detailer) you need to provide step-by-step photos that can help the avgerage DIY'er improve their detailer. You also should supply all products used.

No business should be conducted at all. People do not come here to find detailers, they come here to find advice on HOW to detail.

If you want to post pics of just finished products (and you are obviously a pro) you need to be a sponsor and pay the money. If you would like to post pics of YOUR cars that you have detailed and not your customers cars that is fine.

However, when you are a professional detailer posting just finished pics here, it seems obvious that you are soliciting business without paying the premium that others have paid.

imolazhp_ci Feb 8, 2008 03:51 AM

you shouldn't solicit business when there are other people in the same profession that pay premiums and dedicate a large amount of their time to the community. especially considering they are collectively some of the most regarded professionals in the industry and are second to none.

This is the most immature hissy fit type thread I have ever seen. SO what if the someone wants to post pics of nice cars that they detailed. As long as they are not advertising or promoting their business.
MoeMistry,
I think your an attention whore. You cant handle the fact that there are other detailers on this board who know a thing or two and want to share knowledge. You want to be the only "#1 pro detail guy". I could see if these guys where posting adds or something. Then I could see why you would be upset. I know the price you guys pay to be a sponsor on this board.
"We dont need other detailers helping 6speed members" lmfao You sound like a 4 yr old who just got his shovel stolen from him in a sand box. Grow up.

pjb84 Feb 8, 2008 07:08 AM

Just wanted to say one more thing:
This thread is like telling guys who do mods to their cars that they cant post pics of them because there are tuning shops who are sponsors on this board.
