Ratty iForged Wheels

I just picked up a 996 with 18" iForged wheels. The rims appear to be polished with the centers chromed. The car only has 6,200 miles. The rims have no curb rash, but they do appear to be a little neglected.

The chromed centers are in quite good shape, needing little more than some chrome polish. But the outer rims have a lot of grit on them. I hit a section of the rims with some Mother's chrome polish. It took off a lot of the junk, but I have a fair amount of staining left that my polish wouldn't remove. The polish is non-abrasive, so perhaps I need some polish with a little more horsepower.

What is the best way to get a nice polish back on the wheels? Also, how best to clean the inner part of the rims? I'll probably end up taking each wheel off individually to work on it.

Thanks.

I have a full polished iForged and got them painted because of this reason. There is no way you can keep them clean in the midwest, unless you don't drive the car. Everything bonds to the metal and creates a stain......

Menzerna Final Polish and Zymol Metall has worked great for me. I do a lot of HREs and that seems to be the best combo.

MM,

Looked up the Zymol Metall. I presumes this is a bit more abrasive than chrome polish? Looks like it might do the trick. I'll see if I can find some locally.

Thanks!

Are you polishing the wheels by hand or machine? If machine, what pad are you using with the FF?

Metall is not abrasive at all. It's what's in the towelett that is the trick If you can't find them, I have them in stock.

I polish by hand using a microfiber pad and towel.

I believe someone mentioned Adams metal polish worked really well on polished lips.

Definitely paint the inside barrels of the wheels semi-gloss black. They will always look clean and be easy to clean up. Doing this will also make the face of the wheel and the caliper pop.
