wife's car needs a shine
 

so i have blocked off next weekend (sunday) to detail her car.
it's a 2006 black acura tsx.

I have a lot of zaino, poorboy's, Pinnacle stuff. Is there anything new I should try for ultimate deep shine? If you want to suggest something please do. Going to have to give it a try.

I'm sure the sponsors will chime in soon. It's really all about preperation, especially on a black car. If there are any imperfections in the paint before you wax or seal it, it will still be there. I had a S2000 that I sold to my son (Flite) that I thought I really took care of. I used Zaino products and friends gave me a hard time about being Anal retentive about washing it. After he got it he stepped it up a notch. I think his post is on page 5 or 6 (warning Honda content). It's gotten to be a little competition who has the shiniest car (for Me) It's not that Zanio isn't a great product, but I didn't spend the time prepping the car before I sealed it. Nothing compares to a well cared for Black car, the more you effort put into it the better it looks so have fun, It gets to be a hobby.

Very true, it's all about the prep work. Wax and sealants are just bonus.:cool:

I'm with Josh and airflite on this one... As long as you're using brands like Menzerna, Meguiar's, Optimum, Poorboy's, etc., detailing is approximately 80% technique and 20% products and shine comes from 90% prep and polishing and 10% from wax/sealant

As to what Moe said... I actually detailed a TSX with an extremely hard cc... was almost as hard as the usual BMW clear... basically first check what you're working with... when you detail a lot of cars, you can usually almost just look at a car and tell if the cc is hard or soft, but a good test, at least for me, has been trying to LIGHTLY scratch the paint with a little pressure on a m/f towel or something similar... I guess you can just start polishing with 106ff and a white LC pad and if most of the swirls come out, you've got the soft version

it is that nighthawk black. It's gonna get polished, waxed and stored in the garage until SOLD. She wants a new car and the Acura will be gone to replace it. So not so much worried about maintaining it at this point.

I will pick up some Menzerna this week and try it out.
I have always been happy with Pinnacle on my basalt blk cayenne.
but it's time for something new to try.
