I'm Lazy and Cheap: How Do I Keep My Car Looking Perfect?
Just bought a used 996TT in black/black. It has a few small paint chips on the front bumper. The interior is pretty dang clean, other than the stupid carbon fiber trip wrapping which, apparently, is a common Porsche problem (for a $6k+ option?!?).
I was wondering what the "idiot's" method for keeping the car looking AMAZING with the least amount of effort (most important) and the least cost (also important)? To deal with the very small chips, should I just use some form of touch up paint or do I need to have the bumper repainted? How much would that cost? The car looks great, as I just got it from the dealer, but I'm thinking I should enlist the famous Moe's services for a "real" detailing, then put a wrap on it to cover Moe's perfection? I was eyeing a matte look anyways, and the XPel "Stealth" wrap seems right on the money. (I know the matte look is getting a little tired, but I don't care b/c I think the 996TT would look awesome in a matte black :P ) I was hoping that the combination of the first class detailing followed by a wrap would preserve the car's beauty and then allow me to be a lazy slob afterwards...? Any estimates as to how much all this would cost? Recommendations for a body/wrap shop (I'm in the northern LA area)? I'm sure someone will tell me that I'm way off base, so if someone has any suggestions for someone like me (lazy and cheap), that would be really, really appreciated. I don't mind dropping a bunch up front if that guarantees me years of laziness, but if I have to drop money every year (or less...?) on a real detailing, I'm thinking instead of all the wrap stuff, I'll just try to find a good local detailer and use him as needed. I'd try to do this myself, but after reading this Detailing forum for the past hour, I'm thinking I'm physically and mentally unfit for such a challenge. And, yeah, every time I buy I new car I promise myself I'll keep it in awesome showroom condition. That lasts about 2 months... Thanks in advance! |
Moe is your man. I'm sure he can recommend a quality installer for the Stealth film. Actually, I believe Premier has a facility now in that area.

Give us a call Joe. We can take care of the detail and the matte black film all at the same time. As far as doing it cheap, well, I guess you'd know by now that doesn't rhyme with quality. We'll do the best we can and give you an excellent value for your money as well.
