Best Wheel Cleaner?
I spent more time on my wheels this weekend than I did on the body. Another post recommended a diluted solution of Simple Green, which I haven't tried yet. I had Mequire's Gold Class wheel cleaner on hand and it worked well. The outside is easy, but I was trying to get all the way back. Just wondering if the group has a favorite. What I really need is a lift to get the car up a few feet...that would make the job much easier.

Sonax or Griots Garage HD wheel cleaner for the bad times; +1 on P21S for normal cleanings.

I gotta tell ya....Sonax wheel cleaner changed my life..LOL.
If you're dealing with brake dust only, it's SO easy!! |
Sorry to hijack.
So will the P21S Gel Wheel Cleaner and Sonax work on removing residue, dirt and previously applied shiny tire junk? Also looking for a product for the tires that leaves a nice matte finish. Thanks. |

Try using 303 aerospace protectant on tires so it has a nice satin sheen and since it's water-based, it won't leave oily residue or film behind. http://www.glisteningperfectionstore...tectant/Detail http://www.glisteningperfectionstore...to-wash/Detail |
for really gunked up tires I would suggest Stoner's Tarminator on a old microfiber towel, spray on the towel and wipe all the old dressing off.
Stoner's Tarminator in action. Built up tire dressing http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...p/DSC_9621.jpg Spray Tarminator on an old microfiber towel (throw it out after) with a firm pressure wipe off the gunk. Apply Tarminator as needed. Wow take a look at all old tire dressing and built up dirt/grime/brake dust http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...p/DSC_9623.jpg Clean tires, ready to be dressed http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...p/DSC_9628.jpg After - Wheels Cleaned up, tires dressed http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...p/DSC_9677.jpg |

Keep it simple. Our all-time favorite wheel cleaner is P21S Gel Wheel Cleaner. Safe for ALL wheel types and has no offensive odor.

No...for that you'll need something like P21S Total Auto Wash.

Sonax is the best wheel cleaner for heavily soiled rims. I used it Thanksgiving Day on a Range Rover Sport that had been neglicted for a while and it got off about 98% and I consider it a win!
I previously used P21S Gel and it does a great job, with less odor but I simply cannot touch the performance of the Sonax. I keep both in my arsenal for when I need them. Most of the time I use car wash soap oon my wheel bc I dont let them get too dirty. The RR just seems to produce alot of heavy black dust quickly. NOTE: If you have Ceramic Brakes be carefull what products you use to clean wheels. I would not use/nor should you have to use anyting stronger than car wash soap. Check with your dealer. I have PCCB and was told my multiple people in the know NOT to use any wheel cleaners unless the wheels are removed from the car to be cleaned. |
