Chicago Area Detailer Needed

If there are any 6Speeders in the greater Chicago area here, could you kindly recommend good detailers and locations? I live in St. Charles but don't mind the drive to find a highly recommended shop.

Thanks in advance.

Ahh, you're close. I never received any replies. I used to go to Ben's place on 31 in St. Charles, but once he turned it over, the quality lapsed beyond belief. I had a reasonable detail at "Distinctive Auto Appearance" in Montgomery (south of Aurora), but I'm looking for better. I've heard positive feedback on The Last Detail, but that is near the North-Shore, so at least a day+ for commute and artistry. I guess, at this point, "Distinctive" will be the next detail (not affiliated).

I have spoken with Jeremy at the last detail, its just too far away for me. i took my C4S to naperville one time and the detailer backed my car into a BMW, what a mess that was. anyways since then i have been a bit gun shy. i will check out distinctive. my 997TT is 2 weeks away, exciting stuff. what are you driving?

'06 Boxster S (Red), '03 Audi TT (Black), '06 Beetle Convertible (Red) and an '06 Maxima (company car).

I used to see a silver Lambo - G parked between the Filling Station and 222 during the summer weekends...was that yours? Which dealer is delivering your 997TT? Exciting times for sure! I look forward to seeing your car on the roads of the Fox Valley area. What color?

I dont think that was me near the Filling station, but i did drive through town tons of times. there is 1 yellow G and 1 silver G in the area besides the one i had. i bought my car from a dealer in Ohio, artic silver/black, i could drive myself nuts thinking about it. i hope to have it in 2 weeks.

Hi guys, my name is Steve and I own ProDetail, a private detail co. in the Chicago area. I've been a private detailer for the past 10 years. I've worked on a wide variety of cars from a Ferrari Enzo to my current project a 1941 Woodie (only 4 left in the world).
I service many of my Chicagoland customers on site and I also have a satellite location set up at Loeber Motors in Lincolnwood.
Please feel free to call me @ 847-489-9514 and I'd be happy to give you more info. and forward some pictures of my past work.

A good local detailer, for a modest price, IMO, is the Fullers in Hinsdale. They do different levels of detail and the guys there do a really nice job. Worth the drive if you ask me.

I've got a new 997 Black C4S, but no swirls. How does that happen (getting swirls on the paint)?

happens over time as you wash and wipe down the car. little particles of dirt & dust get trapped between the towel and the clearcoat and cause swirl marks as you dry the car. People say that microfiber towels reduce the chance of swirls... but if you have a black car, you're pretty much gauranteed to get a few since they are so much more visable on dark colors.

Kayman, I take my car almost exclusively to a brushless car wash. Have been doing this with my 03 996 Green C2, 05 Silver C6 Vette, and now my 07 997 C4S. So far, no swirls. Sounds like it will be more likely with black, and perhaps if you are a "do it yourself" wash guy.

on silver, you will almost never see them. but EVERY black car has some visible swirls. Even a brand new car that has been professionally detailed from day one will have a few. Unless they are very deep, you wont see them under normal lighting (except at certain angles). Try taking a bright flashlight and shine it very close to the paint... im sure you will see some.

has anyone had good experiece with prodetail? Any other recommendations for a detailer? something south of chicago would be nice. Last detail sounds great, but its a little too far for me
