Challenge wheels - black, smart? yes, no? thoughts?

hey gang, just bought a 430 coupe, silverstone, 2900miles, carbon throughout, etc. manual. that was the tough part of the search, the manual. but i'm super stoked.

anyway, my question relatest to the wheels. while i think the default wheels are pretty nice, i tend to like th challenge wheels. and i tend to think the wheels in black nasty up any car in a good way.

so my question(s) is:
1. where can i buy affordable challenge wheels for the 430?
2. can they be bought in black, or do i have to have the wheel shop refinish?
3. any downside to buying an extra set of wheels other than the cost/
4. worth it? make sense? improve the value, ?
5. anyone ever refinish the stock wheels black? have photos of that?

First of all, congratulations to you!

If you check on Fchat, I know I have seen some titanium CS with darker wheels - that will give you a good idea how yours will look like that. I think I may even have seen a ss car with that wheel treatment.

I personally prefer those wheels as the stock (non ball-polished) look slightly unfinished.

If you change the wheels choose a light weight one OEM,s are very heavy and reduce performance...

Ferrari's with blacked out challenge wheels look GREAT! BUT, I would see how you like the silver oem finish against your silverstone car, it looks great and so damn clean/classy, tough choice!

I highly doubt you can buy them OEM in a black gloss/matte finish, you will have to get them powdercoated at an independant shop or Ferrari would probaby paint them for you!

Congrats!
1. "affordable" would be if you can find used ones. check occasionally on ebay and ferrariads.com. Ricambi usually will sell new ones with Ti lugs for slightly less than the dealer. expect to pay about $5500 for used and just over $6k for new.
2. Only come in silver or ball polished. You will have to have a painter or powder-coated finish them in black for you.
3. not sure I understand the questions. you can always throw you stocks back on the car if you get rid of it and sell the challenge wheels. they REALLY hold their value.
4. I think they are a great addition to an F430. they may help the value very slightly only if your buyer wants those specific wheels since there are some people who prefer the stock 5 splits. "make sense?" that's your call...
5. there are plenty of people on Fchat that have done them in black, although satin gun metal seems to be more common now. Black would be the way to go with silverstone...contrast. but be sure to do it in satin...
