Has anyone thought about the 7spd DCT tranny yet in terms of maintenance? Wouldn't this equate to a car that requires no crazy maintenance items since the clutches are submerged in oil? Making the 458 as expensive to maintain as say a SL63 amg? or 997tt? I mean if ferrari intended to replace those clutches like they do now, that's 14 clutch to replace...

14 clutches to replace? I believe that there would only be 2 clutches. One for upshifts and one for down.

Figures they come up with this car during the worst economic time. I absolutely LOVE this machine. Kudos to Ferrari for stepping it up.

I mean the Scuderia really stepped up as far as performance for the entry level Ferrari, but this car seems to be on a different level as far as performance! The highest redline of any production engine, the most hp per liter of any performance engine and with a V-8 which we all know was the engine hand picked by god!

Now I am wondering if they will actually bring a 7 speed manual out for this car or will it be dual clutch gearbox only?

The Veyron and the M6 have 7 speeds dont they? Semi-autos though.

Merc already have the 7G-tronic, Nissan also have a 7AT, Porsche's PDK is 7spd, BMW have 7 speed on the SMG III and also their MDCT, VAG also have the new 7spd DSG on the S4, Lexus and BMW are already using 8 speed automatic

either way, they are all produce from a few suppliers, Getrag, BW, ZF etc..

Nope and that's why I asked no one has ever put a 7 speed real manual in a production car.
