2009 Scuderia or 2011 458 Italia
I can't decide which car to get? This would be my first Ferrari purchase. Both cars have their pros and cons. Is the 458 worth paying 40K over sticker?
Thanks, Q |
$40K over list! Go with the Scud.
|
But with the current cars you got,i think 458 would give a more unique experience!
|
Scud, no doubt.
Sooooo much nicer in my opinion. Sound is more intoxicating also. |
In my opinion, if you're not going to track or push the Scud, get the 458. You'll be able to enjoy more of the car more often. The 458 can be pushed just as hard, but appears more civil for when it isn't.

You obviously love raw cars, hence the Scud inclination.
But you will be extremly happy for going with the 458. It's such a perfect car. I'm waiting for prices on the 458 to come down myself... |
Drive both and decide. My opinion, 458.

Every review I have read has stated that the 458 is just as good or better performer on the track than a scud. It also can provide better comfort for in town driving. It does not lack in rawness, sound, steering feel or anything. I would not even consider the scud over the 458. I have seen other threads where guys are ordering an italia bone stock and not paying anything over msrp. They also mentioned that some dealers had 4 allotments for builds that would take 8 months. Sounds very tempting, but wife will kill!

Wow tough choice IMO... Love both... but I would go for the Scud if it was my personal choice...
Drive both and see what your heart says :) |
Given your choice in cars, and the fact that the Scuderia has already depreciated $100k+ off sticker and there is a lot of Scuderia inventory to bargin for, my vote for fun and value is the Scuderia. The 458 is a great car, and far from a gt cruiser for sure, but it is not as raw (inside cabin engine noise from lack of insulation, rail like turning, more aggressive kicks and throttle blips on gear changes due to single clutch) as the Scuderia is. Most people translate these aspects as "more fun" for aggressive driving, but also can be annoyances for street cruising if you are not trying to drive aggressively.
You of course need to drive both of them. Both have more than enough power for the street, which you will almost never really fully utilize unless you are on a track, but I'm sure you already realize this with your existing cars. Also, how to say this delicately on a Porsche board....either of those Ferrari models will cause your Porsche's average annual mileage to decrease disproportionately... Disclaimer: I've driven the F430 and Scuderia, but not the 458. My comparison is doing a bit of anecdotal extrapolation from the reviews I read at Fchat on the matter concerning the 458 vs Scud. |
I would go with the 458 but if I found the right deal on a Scuderia I would grab it. We have a nice selection of both for sale on our website.

Scuderia = raw
458 = performance refined ... I've heard some say that the DCT is too smooth and takes the fun out of driving Swing both and let us know how it goes |
If you order a 458 from factory and wait for it, you can get it for MSRP.
Over MSRP is only for dealer stock on the ground. |
If money wasnt an object, I would go with the 458
