430 clocks 7.55 on the Ring

Pretty unimpressive time for a car fitted with P Zero Corsas. Not only beaten by Lambos Gallardo and Murcielago, but several Porsches from years gone by.

Also, the car posted an equally unimpressive 1:12.7 on the Hockenheim track.

Even though the 430 is inmo, the first Ferrari in many years worthy of purchase, Ferrari has proven yet again, that racing does not necesarily improve the breed.

who drove the car though? The fact that walter drives for porsche might make a big difference. Although given a track choice I would drive a P-car anyday, I find it hard to believe that the F430 can not out gun the C5 Z06 on Pzero corsas. I will blame that time on the driver of the F430.

Horst Van Saurma, race car driver. Drives all the cars for SportAuto, and I compare his times only, as he shows more of what a good driver can accomplish in a showroom stock car, not like when Walter Rohl shows up, with Porsche factory guys, changing dozens of settings to claim the fastest lap. The Z06 Vette time is an indication of just that, they spent 2 weeks changing suspension and tire settings, and then claimed their fastest lap.

what exactly was the c6z06 time again?

shiggins 12-20-2005 01:44 AM

7:43

that is nothing close to impressive... Carrera S can do around 8min with 100+hp less and no coilovers... and no Corsa tires...

msindi 12-20-2005 11:21 AM

What did SE do?

Terry56 12-20-2005 01:35 PM

Well that is just pathetic. Congratulations to Ferrari for making such a great car.

From everything that I've read about the F430, there's got to be more to it than 7:55...

I guess I don't see the correlation between the ultimate performance of the car and the way it will perform on the street. The kind of times these cars get on a track involve performance that 99% of us won't use, anyways - so what difference does it make? The bottom line is that they are STILL fast as hell. And let's face it, we buy them based mostly on looks - and that car is unbelievable in the appearance dept.

I can't believe that the Ferrari F430 is being bought for tens of thousands of dollars above it's dealer sticker price and it is a ****ty performer on the track! :( Great looking car but will you have to replace the whole suspension to make it handle better?

Vicious 12-25-2005 03:06 AM

I don't buy it, something is off kilter here.

And even if it isn't THE fastest car around the ring, I'd take it over any american car and just about any european.

Sure the C6Z might be faster, but his wife will have her tits stuck to the glass as you drive by hilarious

Maybe a weather factor ? I remember when the Carrera GT first did the ring it was in bad weather, later they cut like 10 sec. off the time.

HotRodGuy 12-28-2005 05:34 PM

IMO, anything under 8 minutes is pretty f'ing impressive

I thought track times didn't matter to you Lambo boys? It was all about 30mph roll races? Hmm, I thought other wise. The F430 is still faster on the street then the Gallardo, and im willing to bet the track as well. There are so many factors to consider when they tested these cars. Was it on the same day? Was it the same temp? Was the weather the same? was it dry or wet? Another two or three tests should really show what kind of times the F430 is really putting out.
