FF v 612

Been looking around for a couple of days and was wondering if anyone can explain why 612s are listing for the same (and often more) than the early FFs ('12 and '13) when the 612s are at least 4-6 years older and by all accounts, the FF is the better car without question.

Does this bode well or bad for further depreciation ?

thanks

FF is hideous. SpA/FNA literally "forced" potential owners to buy them so that they could remain on "the list" and get allocations of the new desirable cars.

FF may be the better car, overall, but I don't think it was a great success. Essentially, it was one of LdM's "pet" personal projects. He was a new Father and wanted a model he could tote his bambino around in. I think it was a dud, commercially, but it's not a bad performing car.

Haven't thought through future depreciation on these models, as I'm not really interested in them.

Thank you.

The 612 is certainly prettier, no argument there.
Having had the chance recently to get up close with both models, the FF sort of grows on you the more time you spend with it.

With that said, if one can get over the "looks", is the FF the better buy ?

I'd think the FF is a more versatile car. It's AWD (who's system, I don't know) so it's more useable in a wider range of conditions. It's a 2+2 (but those rear seats aren't exactly roomy). And, it's a hatchback for more cargo carrying capacity.

I happen to live in the mountains of CO, and I do see FFs around from time to time. Never a 612, though. So, that may tell you a thing about the usability and flexibility of the FF.

IIRC, it's somewhere in the 600+ bhp range, so it's no slug, either. With AWD, I'd imagine it's faster and better handling than the 612, too. I've never paid attention to the curb weights of either, but that will surely play a role in how they feel on the road.

So, on paper, I think I'd prefer the FF. My advice would be to drive them back-to-back. That ought to give you a better sense of which you prefer.

Indeed, it's the Edsel of Ferrari.

Here are some pics of my FF and 612. They're both phenomenal cars. When the 612 was first introduced the design was not well received but it's aged extremely well. A beautiful car in my opinion. The FF is a polarizing design but I think it's just badass looking. The FF is light years ahead of the 612 driving wise. It's like they're from different centuries, there's just no comparison. Every FF owner will tell you that it's the best car they've ever owned. You need to spend some time with one to understand. It's an incredible car and, at current prices, is a steal.
