we are due for our car sometimes soon and it's suppose to be 6speed.
Have the 6speed become the not prefferred tranny all of the sudden?
just curious, if anyone has in manual here..

I think it's clear the large majority of folks prefer the F1. My current 430 is an F1 but my 430 Spider will definitely be a gated shifter I really really disliked the F1 in my first 360 (hence ordered 6speeds thereafter) but the 430 is such an amazing car, I don't mind the F1 at all - but the manual is the way to go... don't lose faith!

IMO standard 6speed gearbox is the best one to have...you can get much more fun with it and, if used properly, you can admit to be a great driver!
Control the car with the clutch is uncomparable! no way...

agreed completely!!!...traditional 6 speed is the way to go!...im sad to see so few opt for it these days...F1 tranny is great for an F1 car but on the streets i want complete control over my car...i dont need any computerized nannies shifting and blipping the throttle for me...it seems to me that a lot of people simply dont care to be as involved in the driving experience anymore

by far you guys are in the minority when it comes to 6spds and ferraris! Most people opt for the F1 because "if it's good enough for Schumacher, it's good enough for them"

I spoke with a guy who has a Stradale and a F430 Spider w/6speed and he said he preffered the F430 because of the 6 speed.
6speed is still the way to go in the V8 Ferraris IMO.

Maybe so on the track, but on the road, you sacrifice so much pleasure of driving a Ferrari. I love playing with the sound, blipping the throttle at lights and between shifts. I just spoke to someone yeaterday who sold an F1 car and said the next one would definitly be a 6-speed because the F1 was not fun enough.

6-speed for life (unless I can one day afford a Stradale )

I have the 3-pedal car and love it. I have to admit I haven't driven an F1 version, but it would have to be incredible to get me to consider it. That said, I would love to have a 430CS (or whatever they choose to call it) if they build one, even with F1.

It's a tough call. I've always had manual transmission cars but I quite like the F1 type tranny in the M5. I drove an F1 430 last week and quite liked it. The shifts were not quite as well executed as in the M5, but they were close.

The 6 speed in my 360 is ok, but it is difficult into 2nd until the car is quite warm. I can't heel/toe the 360 because the throttle is so much lower than the brake.

If I was buying a 430, it would prolly be an F1. Here's the weird thing - eat your hearts out, Yanks! - my dealer has an unspoken for new coupe arriving in the next week that I might consider except that it's a 6 speed!. If I were in the market for a used 360, however, three pedals would be my choice.

Never had any trouble heel and toe in my 360, track or street. On cold mornings it took about 5 to 7 minutes of running easy before I would select 2nd gear, before that I shifted 1st to 3rd.

sadly Ferraris might have become the choice car for 50 year olds. many choose the F1 b/c there wives also drive the car. a big percentage of all incoming Ferraris are F1 because of the people who drive them. I'm not sayin its a bad tranny but i think all car enthusiasts will agree that they would miss the third pedal

wow, this is such a great thing to see. I was losing hope.
it just appears more f1s were coming to the dealer and maybe a few 6speed here and there. so got a litt;e worried that we ordered the wrong tranny.

Now, i think 6speed is the way to go
