Moving to FL (Miami) - auto registration & insurance question

Hi -

I'm moving next week from LA to Miami and have 4 cars coming with me via Intercity transport.

As I'm not familiar with Florida auto rules, to register my cars do I have to go and wait in line at the DMV or is their a service or company that I can use to avoid having to do that? Or can I do it all online?

I also need a new auto insurance provider if anyone has any good recommendations.

Thanks in advance & any tips + tricks are appreciated.

Rio

Unfortunately you have to visit a tag agency, there is no "broker" for that stuff down here, that I'm aware of.

Insurance wise, try the big names. I wouldn't trust local cheaper solutions, as they might not be in business when you need them.

Good luck in the sunshine state.

Thanks for the help everyone. I've sorted it all out now.

Looking for cars & coffee enthusiast meet-ups on weekends each month in the Miami area if anyone knows of any. I see that Ft Lauderdale area has one at Ferrari dealer but are there others?

Hey Rio,
I'm trying to find the same. Moved to Miami not a long time ago and looking for Porsche/Ferrari car enthusiasts. Let me know if you find any.
Best,
Dean

I've got a thread below on FerrariChat on the same topic. Can't seem to find many events so far in Miami! It is Kind of hard to believe!

Looks like the closest events/groups to us are in Fort Lauderdale. Should we join one of them? I live about 25 minutes from there (in Miramar).

Looks that way. I am going to try to hit one or both of these to check it out:

Ferrari of Fort Lauderdale's C&C -- Every 2nd Saturday of the month (Possibly Jan 9?)

Cars, Art & Caffeine, Fort Lauderdale -- Sunday Jan 10

I may try to bring my '66 Jag eType to this one also on Jan 23:

Sounds good... let me know which one you are going for and I will try to hit it too. I will be in Chicago for work for a few days then back in Miami.

I haven't had a chance to go yet, but the Palm Beach C&C has a pretty good turnout. Check out their pics. https://www.facebook.com/caffeineandcars/?fref=nf

Yes, the Ft Lauderdale C&C meet up is the best in South Florida. Go early!

Where and when is this one? Is this the one that happens at Ft Lauderdale Ferrari/Maserati location?
