World's ugliest garage...the DIY transformation

I moved into a modest home, ranch style, built in the late 50s...have added two additions to the house, and am almost finished with the garage. It's nothing elaborate, but I spent about $6K to do the entire project. I've always wanted a insulated, heated garage for Wisconsin winters...I thought I'd share my DIY...Here's how it started.

After a few days of demo, I was able to take out the old drywall and put new sheetrock up...

Wow, great transformation! Hardly looks like the same garage! What sort of cabinets are those?

Thank you for the kind words. It's pretty hard keeping any kind of nice garage in cold weather climates...

The cabinets are by Whirlpool's Gladiator Garageworks...http://www.gladiatorgw.com/home.jsp

On a side note, where in WI are you at?

Looks like a fun project.

Very nice job................however, you must be very, very young.

You have not accumulated very much junk in your garage.

Where are all of the cans of bug spray, lawn mover, hedge clippers, weed eater, the family's outdoor shoes, camping gear, etc?

I have so much stuff lining my walls, I figure is would take over 30 wall feet of tall cabinets to hide it all!!!!

hilarious

Did you say, "Snow shovel?" What is a snow shovel?

I don't have one of those!!

blackMAMBA Apr 20, 2008 12:57 PM

Living in Wisconsin, he should have a snow blower or a quad with a snow plow attachment!

Thanks for all the kind comments, everyone.

Jetta...I have a brick exterior on the two side walls, and an insulated garage door. There is one shared wall with the house. I used fiberglass on the exterior walls, blown cellulose on the ceiling, and installed radiant heating under the floor.
