You know me man...always looking for something different. Plus it's a manual. It's in great shape. Lifted, lights, interior, exterior, wheels/tires, motor, ignition, snorkel, etc etc...everything has been redone.
Your TDI should feel pretty tame compared to your G55 tho |

What do you guys think of Black Wheels on the Spider. My 430 Coupe is going away for a new toy arriving soon and I'll have these black rims left over.
Should I try them on it for a while? +1000 looks great IMHO... |

Ben -- diesel conversion is sweet... the irony with the diesel conversion is that all the limey brits want the V8 that they could not get on the rock and all the americans want the diesel that they could not get! Mark -- regarding rims, now there are a lot of rim makers that make "bead lock look" rims, so not a true bead lock rim. Meaning they look like bad ass off road rims but are not. However given the way your new rig is set up, I would assume that the rims on your ride are true bead locks. I would not sweat it... make sure all the bolts are torqued down and away you go.. if the cops pull you over plead ignorance... D90 in general info -- I do not pretend to know it all, but I know a fair amount about them. a grat resource for information is www.eastcoastrover.com I wanted one really badly for a long time and it took me a while to put the money together... I ended up with a 2000 mile one owner 97 white hardtop (station wagon) D90. I paid $38K for it and put 65000 miles on it as a daily driver and off road weapon... OME suspension (small lift), mudder tires, ARB bumper, winch, safari gard sliders and various other bits, huge lights etc... I off roaded the crap out it... I traded in with a few dents and creases. I swapped my D90 and a Saab Viggen to Tyson Spring on a 2000 C4 millen. edition Porsche. Tyson subsequntly unloaded my trade in immediately to www.copleymotorcars.com in Boston. They seem to have the largest selection of used defenders in the country in one spot. they also have a realtionship with east coast rovers etc. If you are really going to off road them, you will love them. The combination of the short wheel base and the capabilty of the car itself is just awesome. I did things in that car off road that I did not think was possible! The only drawback to really off roading them is if you start getting really into it, you quickly realize that off roading is meant to be done in a Jeep as the vast market of USA aftermarket parts and the relatively low cost of the Jeep parts etc.. However if you have the wallet to really enjoy a d90, I would take it over a jeep any day of the week. I learned how to drive in a series 2 89 inch land rover in Kenya that had a folding chair welded to the floor... my first love so to speak. I am glad you guys are bringing them to the NW. How long until Ben's is painted black? :D I want to see them |

How long until Ben's is painted black? :D I want to see them I bet Silversurfer keeps it white. All those Black cars in his stable are keeping his crew busy 24/7 already. Adding another and he'll have to add another crew for the weekend work. |
The new 550 came home yesterday. Driven a couple days now and damn it's fast. A little cold in our weather for no windshield, side windows, insulation or heat but it's power packed with 170hp and 1500lbs (just dyno'd)
http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...meshome003.jpg http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...meshome015.jpg Its just a touch shorter than my GMC http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...meshome018.jpg http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...meshome020.jpg Fits nicely in the garage http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...meshome032.jpg http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...meshome026.jpg http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...meshome020.jpg |
Mark, that is just sad, that you already need a bigger garage!!
So you like the 550? Can't wait to see it!! I've been toying with getting one for about a year now, but haven't driven one yet. |

The D90 arrived today. It's so tall it wouldn't fit in the house garage I had to move my pickup outside until I get the road going rims and tires

Wow, Mark, those are all HOT! Awesome how you can fit both those little porsche's under the lift! Definitely need a ride in the 550!
|
You definitely need to build another garage to house all your toys.
