The reason I keep mentioning K40 is because you sell K40 at your car audio shop. Hmmm... that wouldn't create some sort of a bias to a competing product would it? You have no business being in a group buy thread if you're not participating. You're not a 6speed sponsor so you have no vested interest one way or the other. I'm not sure what "track record" you're talking about with regards to LI. Any negative testing has already been proven to be a sham (ie the old Laser Star dealers).

Yes, there was another group buy way back when. I tried to get in on it. I missed it unfortunatley so I was forced to pay retail. At that time, Euro LI banned any future GB's. I'm assuming because it de-valued the product, but nobody actually told me that. US LI decided that GB's are appropriate for the US market and is doing them again anyway. Let's face it, it's a great way to stim sales. Other companies do it all the time. Heck, they have an entire section devoted to it on here.

As far as engineers that are behind the LI product, just as I have no clue who they really are and what they're credentials are, neither do you... So you're assumptions about what they're capable of doing or not doing is complete guesswork on your part. Whoever they are, they got it right though...

Why shouldn't I "throw credentials around"... So were you a cop in FL? Because you appear to be a car audio installer in Ohio. Credentials are relevant to this thread (ie familiarity with speed detection equipment). If I said I was a car audio installer, yes that would have no relevance to speed detection. However, being that I was a radar/laser operator and had written many citations (they made us at the time and I hated doing it), that does offer some relevance as I've been on both sides of the "gun" so to speak and can accurately comment on the law enforcement perspective. And I'll say it again, I've actually PERSONALLY gone out with not one but TWO laser guns and shot a LI equipped car and was unable to get a reading (front or rear) with two passes on each gun. Could that have been some "juiced" up LI setup built to impress testers? Maybe... However, even the GOL test this year bought a unit "blind", tested it, and it crushed everyone. How do you explain that? Not to mention I've been through two laser traps now with my unit installed and got "eye fcucked" by the cops as I drove by (I never turn it off). Clearly they were getting a JTG.

So thanks again for f'ing this up. I was hoping to get myself and the other 6speeders a discounted price on the product.

 

Just because I feel so strongly about this product, we went out and did some testing today. I used my Volvo C30 as the subject vehicle. This is the first time my car has been officially tested. I have an "off the self" full retail LI unit.

We had a lage variety of guns and shot them all a minimum of two times. Myself and Jakester (6speeder) were the laser operators. He drove and I shot on the first set of runs, and then we traded places and did it all over again to compare the results.

The test course was quite long and gave ample opportunity for punch throughs. We aimed at a variety of spots to include front center mass, headlights, roof line, and mirrors. Bear in mind that I do not have an optimal install. Even though my heads are in the right horizontal position, they're closer together than they should be. We tried to stealth the heads as much as possible leaving them in a less than perfect place.

Even with the head placement, the results were outstanding! I have new brackets and I'm confident that by bringing the heads out and spreading them wider, I would have zero punch throughs. Even so, only 2 punch throughs with over 20 runs, the longest at less than 300 feet, is pretty damn impressive.

How much more proof do the doubters need? I'm a well know 6speeder with a law enforcment background. We tested it TODAY. We had a ton of different guns, using an average sized car as the test vehicle. This is about as good as it gets for unbiased realistic testing. I don't have any affiliation with LI other than being a fan of their product.

Thanks for the support Rob. I'd like to borrow a video camera and shoot my own videos as well. The only thing I had with me yesterday was my blackberry and I'm sure the video quality wouldn't even be worth the effort to try and shoot it.

 

Let me guess, you think I rise up in the morning and throw on my superman K40 outfit and fly to work? Did I say K40 is the best? Nor do I own North Olmsted Performance, and they also do Escort there too.

Regardless what anyone thinks, a few passes in one environment does not constitute a pass/fail of the gear, including K40. How about this, how about setting a new standard and try testing it 100x in multiple environments? No manufacturer ha done it yet, and a few passes wouldn't constitute a validation process of it working or any other product out there... including K40

Anyways, I had to be FDLE certified, because I was working an exclusive military jurisdiction installation. there is only 2 in the USA, and the local law enforcement wasn't allowed on it for any LE purposes. However we did allow JSO and ST.JSO to come on and train with us, shooting range, kill house, and when we had a DT class that they needed certification on. Further we would ride with JSO once a week... Oh and I did go to Radar Operator School for FDLE quals, when you had to sit on I-95 and Vizually estimate the speed of a vehicle and the instructor would confirm with the gun for 100 vehicles. So please, I could of had many many many different paths for a career, could of done the US Marshalls, JSO, worked as an engineer for Martin Marrietta (now Lockheed Martin) with their aerospace division... however when as a tech you make more money doing something you like... you go for it... especially when it isn't a political job... So please don't throw installer around like it is some BS job... there are a few shops out there that know what they are doing, with employees also.

And not to be a dick to you, I would gladly help if you need to validate product... and I am sure a few of my shooting buddies, cops, would help me out also. Hey you can even compare it with the K40 unit... But I know how it will turn out so I won't hold my breath...

FDLE certified in what? Were you a cop or not? Have you ever personally written a speeding ticket or gone to traffic court as an officer? I'm just guessing but you sound like a national guardsman based on what you were doing.

You call BS on the other testing, so I give you a brand new test. With another 6speeder there to participate and witness... It won GOL 2 years in a row. I tested it last year on another vehicle. You're still not satisfied. The unit works. Get over it. I don't know why you want to believe so badly that it doesn't work.

I'm sorry people aren't lining up to spend $2K to get a K40 installed these days. Leans times in the industry. Maybe you should have picked another career instead of installing car radios.
