Thanks. Good question. I guess one never really "knows". But, by looking at tires, inspection report, brakes/rotors, body, paint, lines, etc. there is absolutely no abuse. It looks brand new. In addition, my sales guy commented that they had another gt3 that had been tracked, he knows the owner real well of this car, and has sold dozens of cars to former and current execs at my company. So, bottom line, I trust him.

^^Exactly^^
Car's that have been tracked regularly will show tell tale signs of wear. And buying from a trusted and respect source also gives confidence in the claims made.

Even pristine cars may have been to the track once or twice. But this would not keep me away from a 6GT3, as these things are pretty much bullet proof. However, there are some tell-tale signs of being on the track that almost anyone can verify pretty easily:
  • heat cracks in OEM steel rotors - front or rear (although this car appears to have PCCB)
  • PCCB optioned car now with steel rotors
  • slotted steel front rotors
  • upgraded or replaced splitter [check mounting spots]
  • upgraded or replaced brake ducts [check mounting spots]
  • upgraded brake pads [e.g., P50 for PCCB, RS19/29 for steel]
  • balled up rubber in the fender liners
  • balled up rubber in the radiator openings [just reach your hand in and feel around]
  • underbody scrapes or missing aero
  • rubber streaks on paint or windshield
  • upgraded drop links, toe links, dog bones
  • carpet cut outs for roll bar
  • wheel studs
  • "no seat belt" warning chime disabled
  • over -2.5 negative camber
  • 4 or 8 degree wing shims on (or in included with car)
To the OP, good find and good luck!

Great car - Congrats. Just make sure you know all the positives and negatives of driving a PCCB car on the track. This is an issue of big debate.

Sharif,

I still miss my 996GT3 and will probably get another 1 when I sell the GT2, so welcome to the dark side.

See you in August.

Peter

congratulations, looks really slick.

all it needs is a set of euro seats and it would be perfect.

out of curiousity, why didnt the US market get the hardcore seats? was it a legality thing?

Autox in a few weeks and a few track days in Sept/Oct., mods will emerge by early 2011.
