I couldn't help it!
Well, folks...I picked up the GT3 yesterday with my whole family in tow. My wife got the first ride home from the dealers. Then it was fun rides for my boys. It had about 50 miles on the clock when a small stretch of empty road presented itself. I couldn't help it. Back into second & foot to the floor. 8 grand comes up awefully quick. WEEEeeeeeeeeeeeee. :p
Anyway the GSM who sold me the car has been to the factory many times, and told me that Klaus (or whom ever it is) drives these things right out the door and onto the autoban & faster than most people will ever go, so I think that its been run hard already. So much for that gentle break in period. |

When I collected my car we went to find the test route that the drivers use, they are nicely run in waaaaaaayyyyyyyy before they get back!:D :D :D P. |

All cars are taken for a test drive straight from the end of the production line, about one every 5 minutes. The Porsche workers apply to do the job on a rota basis. I think they said it was for about two weeks every two years.
Once the cars return from their run they are checked over and any faults rectified before shipment There are lots of differant camps out there when it comes to running cars in, I spoke to the guys that put the engines togeather and got their advice. Basically, use all the revs both up and down the box and vary the load as much as possible. Change the oil at 600 miles and that is that, jobs a good un! So, to answer your question, all Porsches are taken for a test drive and probably given a damn good thrashing!! Enjoy it!. P. |
Well, looks like I'll be booking in for an oil change within the nearest future and then starting to get used to life above 5k rpm... Sounds fun :D
