Be very cautious of your fellow 6 speeders on runs (Gumball accident yesterday)
Sorry guys, stuff like Gumball etc. is not fitting our times. Let's be more responsible, showing off in your 200k + sports car who cares? I am in my early 40's and have a few sportscars but if I want to go fast I go to the race track, not on the Interstate! I have been invited several times to do drives in Nor Cal on weekends, but after seeing some of the participants (and their egos) I politely declined, this behavior is selfish and accidents yet worse injury to others will happen sooner or later.
If we keep tolerating and doing these kind of events no wonder that the CHP and other law enforcement agencies will crack down on us car enthusiasts even more.

After watching the video a few times, here is my guess as to what happened...
As the freeway started to make that wide right hand turn, the Scuderia started to change lanes to the right. It appears there was a Carrera GT ahead of the Scudera, and maybe another exotic or two ahead of it.
My guess is the driver of the Excursion was looking at the exotics out of his driver's side window and side view mirror as the freeway started to make the wide right hand turn. He saw the Scuderia start to move into the right lane adjacent to him, and realized the freeway was turning right. He overreacted and that is how the trailer started losing control.
Just my guess, after watching the video a few times.
Regardless, hopefully everyone is okay. And no kids should have been riding in the back of that trailer.

Kali, nowhere in your posts do you indicate how you know who called 911. This seems to be a just another rumor. It could have been any of the people on the road most of whom don't know the difference between a lambo, cgt or f430. More likely some 3rd party made an ignorant statement about what car it was. If this was really a traumatizing event for the lambo owners, they should ask the police for a copy of the 911 telephone call and who it came from (it is a public record, although it might not be released until the investigation is done). This should clear this up. The "everyone knows" argument just doesn't cut it.
Everyone is loosing focus on this incident, the 911 call is non essential and lets assume the camper flipped due to his or her error (most likely the cause). The parties involved directly told people that they saw this silver LP cutoff the camper and cause the accident. That is the bottom line point.
You're "shocked" that this happened?
Have you never heard or read about what happened last year at the Gumball Rally? It sounds like someone needs to put their bigboy pants on and deal with it.

Ask anyone on the Gumball Rally where this originated from and they will all tell you the same people. I share with you the shock of the situation and disgust of what has occured. People with me in this Lambo circle will also verify these facts, I will let them jump in and verify this.
Make no mistake, it is sad and pathetic what has happened.

As a matter of fact, I saw another group of them yesterday morning on the 405 at the 105 interchange. IIRC, it was around 10am as I enter the freeway. I heard a bunch of cars fly by at well over speed limit. I did not see the front of the group, only the last few... a black EVO with a bike on top, an old school VW bug, one yellow sportscar, one green lambo, and one orange lambo with tinted taillights. All zipping in & out of traffic recklessly at very high speed.
If it wasn't for a 60's Mustang with all the gumball stickers that was few mins behind that crazy group, I didn't even realize what was all that about... For the record, the Mustang was not driving recklessly. Anyways, when I got home, I looked it up and saw most of the cars on youtube when they started on Saturday.

you call my "SF" origin into question all you'd like, but it doesn't change the side of the story we're receiving.

Agreed it looks like the driver probably got distracted, then corrected, over corrected.. then... And there doesn't seem to be anyone abnormally near the rig when it happened. Nobody in front of him, and the cars next to him don't seem to be "exotic" nor speeding, just cars getting out of his way when he started losing it.
And also agree with someone earlier in this thread about the rigs set up being possibly improperly set up. It's not that tough for someone to lose control like that when they are not paying close enough attention to what they are doing, and on a bend in the road.
Also, isn't it illegal for anyone to be "riding" in campers or any kind of trailer behind a truck?
In any case, it's good to hear nobody was hurt.

Briton in Gumball death re-arrest
The rally has been called off
A Briton has been re-arrested by Macedonian police over a crash during an international car rally which left two pensioners dead.
Nicholas Morley and Matthew McConville, from Greater Manchester, were taking part in the Gumball 3000 event when they were in a collision on 2 May.
The men released on Friday, but a Gumball 3000 spokeswoman said Mr Morley had been taken back into custody.
Vladimir Cepulyoski, 67, and his wife Margarita died after the crash.
The cause of his death was a heart attack after the crash, while his wife died on Friday.
Meanwhile, the rally has been called off.
The Gumball 3000 - which costs £28,000 to enter - involves more than 100 cars driving 3,000 miles from London to Athens and back on public roads.
Mr Morley, 30, from Bowdon, Greater Manchester, and Mr McConville, 36, from Prestwich, Greater Manchester, were travelling on a road towards Kafasan - on the border with Albania - when the collision happened.
Further investigations
Mr Morley was charged with endangering traffic and abandoning an accident victim, according to the Associated Press.
The Gumball 3000 spokeswoman could not say whether Mr McConville had returned to the UK, but it is understood he is free to leave Macedonia. The Gumball rally has been a draw for the rich and famous for almost a decade, with entrants enjoying the thrill of their high-powered sports cars by day and lavish parties by night. Founder Maximillion Cooper revealed in a statement that the rally was ending in Bratislava on Thursday night as a mark of respect following the deaths.

Well I only watched couple times but I am guessing that the SUV was surprised at exotic sightings and he went OH **** kick @ss cars OMG! then lost control.
Seriously and clearly, there's nothing going on infront of his lane (4th lane) and 3rd lane...well it's kind of hard to see because the car infront of the car with a video kind of blocked what's going on ahead of him.
I think those guys are blaming on wrong people. *** holes.

Keep in mind guys the seriousness of this.
God forbid the driver would have died from the crash or had a heart attack during this accident and died (like last years Gumball event), the silver LP would have been fscrewed!
It would be my word against the people who called in, two against one.
Who would the police believe?
Who the DA believe?
Who would a judge and jury believe?
The reason this is on this forum as of now is because of that video tape, solid proof!
I was directly in front of this camper inthe #4 lanes just roughly 1/8 mile ahead of it and had a clear view of what was going on.
Make no mistake, no one cut off the camper and the malicious intent of the people who started the rumours and called in to 911 should be vividly clear.
Keep in mind the time frame of the sigalert. Several minutes after the accident they called and said Lambos were involved. I dont see any Lambos at all in the vid. The closest Lambo to this incident would have been mine 1/8 of a mile ahead.

I think you're letting your imagination get ahead of you! For one thing you have no idea who called 911. You have no first hand knowledge of what was said and who said it. The freeway is filled with cars and everyone has a cell phone. From what I am reading here sounds like you doing a lot of CYA right now for a innocent person! I know Fred (CGT owner) and that isn't the way he operates.
Kali,
I would consider keeping your mouth shut at this point unless you are prepared to defend your own accusations. Libel/Slander are silly things to get yourself in trouble over especially when video evidence shown here clearly shows the opposite of your accusations.
