A little problem could use some advice
Hey guys, I took my gt3rs into the dealership because it was leaking some oil.
It turned out that it was an rms leak. The dealership does not want to warranty this because they said that it was due to my aftermarket sharkwerks bypass that was causing to much back pressure and an over rev of the motor that happened once. They do not want to honor my warranty. Is there anything that I can do?

man that sucks. 2nd time i've heard it about the bypass exhaust. if the leak is not so bad, i'd just weather it out until someone you know with a bone stock gt3 goes in for rms. then you both can go in together for service. if it's that bad, i'd put the stockers back on (assuming you still have them) and go to another dealer. but then you mention you also have over rev. sorry not much help.

Porsche seems to be grasping any excuse to sidestep their warranty obligations. A far cry from days gone by where they would cover everything. Maybe try another dealer and see what they say. Hope you find a happy ending to this.

Wow,
Well now it turns out that my pressure plate is also broken and they do not want to replace that as well. I don't understand why they are not taking any responsibility for anything.
How the hell did my pressure plate brake. I mean I track the living hell out of the car but what was a surprise is that my clutch is completely fine, I never miss shifted the car or anything. I am very confused as to why they are even trying to pull the crap that I over revved the car. Do you guys think that it could be because I have software that increased the rev limiter by 300rpm.
I called 1800PORSCHE and talked to customer commitment, and opened up a case. I dont mind paying for the rms and the labor, its just ridiculous. Is there anything else that I can do? If I take it to another dealership, with the factory exhaust wont there be some sort mainframe system that tells them that I already took my car into service and they denied the warranty.
I hate dealing this kind of stuff. I wish they would just fix the damn car. They are trying to tell me that I abused the car. Now my question to porsche is did they not build this car so we can go ***** out with it?

Sorry to sound like Im not being helpful here, but to be honest I would not expect any manufacturer to honor a warrenty on an engine if you fit third party parts to it. This is the reason I would never fit any such items whilst the car is still under warrenty. If you think about it they have to draw the line somewhere on which parts of the engine you can change and they still honor the warrenty and the only logical place you could ever draw a line is a complete ban on any such things.
Cant you goto sharkwerks instead? Presumably they offer some form of guarantee that their parts wont damage the car?

Why would you do that???
You are flirting with loosing all of your warranty, should the need arise.
Remember the DME knows and records all.
From the latest TSB
We have since discovered that a leaking crankshaft sealing ring on the flywheel side can also be caused by a leaking or manipulated1 engine vacuum system.
Important Note — Manipulating the factory installed engine components
The following will disrupt the vacuum conditions in the crankcase which can damage the crankshaft sealing ring on the flywheel side causing it to leak oil.
•Pulling off the vacuum supply to the exhaust flaps.
— Modified (negative ) engine power characteristic.
— Increased noise level over the entire rpm range.
•Deleting factory installed exhaust components.
•Replacing factory installed exhaust components with non-approved parts.
Additionally, the correct flywheel for the engine must be used. The incorrect flywheel will not disrupt
the vacuum inside the engine however the increased crankshaft vibrations may damage the seal.

I know many will not like to hear this but I believe that Porsche spends alot more on R&D than the aftermarket and totally knows their product inside and out.
How much R&D do the aftermarket folks really do.
Extra vroom vroom at what cost.
Good luck!

Wow bad luck on that... I've seen a PP break up once before but that was just a faulty Sachs part out of spec. They'll probably diagnose the how/why out of it since it's not a common problem. On the RMS I would say try a different dealer and it's so simple to change the exhaust out/on that I wouldn't give them any "ammo" so to speak. At worst it's a few drops of oil and we all have it (unless we're using the turbo seal which doesn't leak). In terms of software, what did you use/go with? 300rpms extra is a lot since it doesn't really make anymore power up top like that anyways. With our 3.8 we went up by a couple of hundred but that's different....
