GT3 Seat Swap

I am selling my '04 GT3. When I got the car new, I took out the OEM seats and installed OEM Recaro seats. I did this 5 years ago myself. I took the car to my mechanic to do the swap back (I am too busy) and he says that the wiring harnesses don't match up. I don't recall messing with any wires....it was a plug and play deal. What could be the issue? Thank you

there should be no issues if those are your original seats that you are putting back in...the harness connection is a bit complex...if I remember correctly I needed to separate the seatbelt connection from the rest of the connector when I put my Recaro GT3 seats in

I am running 996 GT3 seats in my 997C2S, and the wiring harnesses work fine. I think that he has confused the three separate plugs with the one large one that holds the whole thing together. I can swap my seats out in less then 1 hour, if it is a real pain, then do it yourself.

I'm assuming your mechanic is not a Porsche tech. The wiring in your car now includes only the wire from the seatbelt, which is connected to what amounts to half the original wiring connection box. The other half is attached to your OE seats, and includes the power rake adjustment (and more if you had power seats). At a glance the two parts may not appear to be one unit, but they are. If you go to the RennList forum, there is an excellent DIY thread, with pictures. It should make it clear how everything fits together.
