Does a 05 Carrera GT with 100 miles require the 4 year service?
 

I`m talking to a dealer with an undriven CGT who says he doesnt want to do the 4 year service since the car hasnt been driven. He says he doesnt want to rip apart a brand new car.

I see his logic to an extent.

What do you guys think is appropriate?

you can tell the dealer that most Porsche nuts believe that not driving these cars is harder on them than taking them out and letting them run

well I bet that if it was the other way around, a private owner keeping the car for 4 years undriven the dealer would say that service at that point is a MUST...

if it was up to me I would change the brake fluid at delivery, drive 300-400 miles and change the oil and filters...

but then again I'm no expert in CGT's perhaps it would be better to do fluid changes and check the entire car for loose hoses and all sorts of stuff before even taking out on the road...

it absolutely needs service. any car driven 100 miles in 4 years needs a major service.

What it needs is to be driven.................hard!

+1. Worst thing for these cars is to NOT be driven. Think I'd rather have one with 1000 or 10,000 than 100 miles.

After 4 years of non usage, rubber, seals, bushings, would dry out and/or crack. Get the service.

I bet if someone would look hard enough, they would find a little bit of rust somewhere inside the motor.

Also check the tires, they may need to be replaced as well.

Do the service. I'm sure he's just covering his ass and knows well enough that the car needs attention.

Service for sure. Treat it like a 100,000 mile car when it comes to just sitting in a garage. (slight exaggeration I know)

Do any of you know how much the 4 year service costs?

It aint cheap !

The labor alone (the most expensive part of the service) is $6200. The parts themselves are an additional $1800 (give or take for what needs to be replaced).

Bottom line, ~$8000. Not exactly out of this world considering the price of these cars. :rolleyes:

to the OP, none of what these guys are saying is true.
4 months or 4 years, will not require any sort of maintenance on any car driven that amount

sure it does. rubber deteriorates. the gas might separate just from sitting for so long. i know diesels have issues with oil that is too old, not sure to what extent gas engines can suffer from that (oil for gas engines is formulated differently). brake fluid is hygroscopic. etc.

obviously you can skip wear items like valve adjustment, clutch inspection, brakes, etc.
