GT2 seats - Alcantara?

I just picked up a set of GT2 seats in leather. Just wondering if anyone sells alcantara inserts for these or do I have to go custom?

Thanks

You can get the inserts through a porsche parts counter, but I was quoted $3K to do so.

I went custom on mine at a local upholstery shop. $550.00 done. Only drawback was not able to match the alcantara in the rest of the car exactly. Only I can tell though. For me these are track seats not show seats.

Thanks for the replies.

MaxAnt - did your upholstery shop redo the existing cushions or make new ones?

alcantara cushions

TC-try Recaro for the cushions. They supply the OEM seats. RSS, a sponsor here, is a Recaro dealer. I know others who have replaced seat and/or back cushions, alcantara to leather, thicker seat, color change, etc.

Thanks for all the info.

I'm not sure why we can't buy the GT2 seats with Alcantara inserts directly from Porsche when it comes standard with the GT3.2's

You can. Just get the VIN of a GT2/3 that's equipped with these seats and order through your dealer or other supplier.

Exactly - I got extremely frustrated going from parts department to parts department only to hear the same answer - "Nein"!!

Why Porsche won't let dealers order them for cars where the seats were an available option is beyond me. Why not make the order VIN specific and limit the quantity?

How do owners replace/repair GT2 seats w/alcantara in the event of damage? There has to be a way!!!

My frustrations levels pushed me to go this route:

No need for a VIN, it's possible to get the factory set:

But ya, they're over 3K, and might have to come from Germany. I believe Leer makes these, I don't think it's Recaro. Our boxes used to say Leer or Lear, something like that.

3k for seat inserts! It looks like the local uphostery shop for me. Can anyone recommend a good shop in Portland?

Ric,
YOU TEASE!!!! Lord knows I pestered Ryan and you guys enough about getting the getting the folding buckets all as one set. Although the all leather ones you guys have are VERY nice.

Have you been able to make any sense or can you shed any light as to why Porsche is making it so difficult to get the folding buckets with alcantara?

tcbelise,
The upholstery shop took the originals apart and used the leather as the template and recovered the cushions with the alcantara. Not a factory finish but nice enough for $500.
