Porsche's new model between the GT2 and 918

I'm sure many of you have heard about this in that last couple weeks. This is interesting, because there is on market gap for a mid engined supercar in that range, so, in my mind, that leaves one thing. A much needed GT car from Porsche, targeted right at the Ferrari FF/599. I wrote about it on my blog:

http://mindovermotor.com/2011/07/21/...needs-filling/

what do you guys think of this? Should they make a sort of 918 Jr. or should they fill a huge gap in their lineup?

I think there is a mid engine gap. Let's say I am a shopper weary of the 911s dated interior, thunderous ride, and rear engine dynamics. I have nowhere to go. Lambo has no dual clutch, some obscenely bad angles, and is a spine bender if you're over 5'10". Ferrari is not making manuals, remains fragile and pricey, is too heavy, and, worst of all, unobtainable.
Glad to have McLaren on the scene.

I don't know much about front-mid platforms but that might be a market P could tap.

Whatever Porsche marketing says, the 918 is an overpriced technology mule. Awesome look though. How much for one with a supercharger instead of batteries? :)

918 is going to be ultimate Pcar for sure...but I gotta say with McLaren's new car that is a great middle priced supercar...Porsche needs something and I agree they need a mid engine maven to compete with McLaren over the next few years...

Sell the 918 without hybrid features for an absurd as opposed to obscene $. Then make a 2 door and convt version of pana. That should plug all the holes in line up
