GT3 RS ----> GT3 RSR Conversion
GT3 RS ----> GT3 RSR Conversion
I saw this crazy GT3 RS on another forum. Apparently the owner of this FL car wanted something unique. Well, Orbit Racing delivered, in a BIG way.
Check it out:

Orbit Racing: This summer we are starting our dream project. After many years of building race winning Porsches for the track, we have been given the opportunity to build a track inspired car for the street. The very top of the line for a 911 body is the RSR as currently raced at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. What if we could have a brand new 997 GT3RS and then buy all of the original factory parts to make a street legal RSR - Nobody would ever actually do this - Would they???

In our possession is a 2011 Porsche 997 GT3RS in aqua blue metallic. We will take you along as we go through the challenges of building an RSR for the street to Porsche showroom quality. Everything is together, aligned, and the ECU has been programmed to run with the RSR exhaust. Next week we will begin to add some graphics to the car and see what works. We will start to put some miles on the car now and make sure all systems are working properly.

And according to people that know the owner, he drives it on the street and track, thus the PS2's.

I can hear the gears grinding, chipping, and pounding away in your little cranium all the way up here!
Thanks for the link. Took forever to look through all the photos....didn't see any interior shots???
I think it might have been cheaper to buy a GT3 R and convert it to a street car....man they put a ton of hours into that project.

This past weekend a few people were invited to instruct at a Orbit event at PBIR.
I saw the car a few times during the build and had the chance to see it this weekend at the track. By far the most spectacular GT car on the streets around here.
The build quality is amazing, and Rodger's attention to details and perfection makes this car an amazing machine.

I love the yellow lights on the blue, The rear spoiler and all the motorsports body mods. Damn I wish I had money to toss around like this..
I went thru some of those pics before and I honestly can say they didnt cheep out but I do agree that it may have been much cheeper to convert a standard rsr into road legal car. Who knows.
Ps: those wheels are mint

No disrespect to any GT3RS 3.8 or 4.0 owners ( I can only dream of driving a car like what you all have...BUT...this blue car Orbit did is what Porsche should have done for at least the 4.0. This Orbit car is what a GT street car from Porsche should look like.
I dont know bud they sure did lots of work on that.. I was kidding.
500K car vs a look alike orbit made gt3r street.
Im just playing. I know they did lots of work but i bet it wasnt 100K worth then again i could be wrong.
This car is actually closer to a 2012 GT3 R than an RSR.
The GT3 R runs 304,500 Euros ($433,000 USD) and comes with paddle shifters!
I bet between man hours, parts and materials it was over 100K on top of a well equipped 2011 GT3 RS which can run close to 180K+ when spec appropriately. Most shops charge between $110-$130 per hour....do the math.
All said and done I bet it was a lot more than we all think. However it is street legal and an R or RSR isn't...a lot to be said for that.
Having said that I would have bought a CUP car and a new trailer. Probably would have some pocket change for the up coming season!
