On track personal liability

There's a lot written about track insurance for the least important thing - the car. what about personal liability in the event someone is injured?

Just bought a dedicated track car and my wife just asked this question. We, like a lot of other folks here, have a lot to lose. I'm only doing DE's at this point but things still can happen.

I know most events have participants sign waivers - are they really worth anything? Would my umbrella policy cover me?

I know there's a lot of well to do people in this hobby. I find it hard to believe that they would leave themselves exposed.

Chris, I am in the insurance biz and would be happy to review your current coverage, no strings attached to help out. Tough question to answer without reviewing your policy language.

Here's my response to your post on Rennlist. Hope it helps.

Here's a thread I authored on 6SpeedOnline on this topic a year or so ago. The main salient point with PCA follows:
I sent an email to a couple of our PCA regional officials who forwarded it to PCA National. Ken Laborde, PCA National Insurance Chairperson responded, "On the contrary our policy does provide defense and indemnity up to the $10MM limit for participants who have signed the waiver and get sued in connection with their participation in the event. Please let me know if you have any other questions."

Here's the thread if you are interested in the details.

very good question and excellent answer. i guess every DE participant should have something similar to PCA's....and especially so if you are instructing
