Custom Widebody 997.1 GT3 at VIR- Professional Photography
Hey Folks! These are some shots of my custom wide body 997.1 GT3 taken at a CHIN Motorsports event by the professional photographers at Sideline Sports Photography. These photos were taken at VIR during the fall of last year 2011. I've had my car photographed at the track before, but I have to say that these particular photographers were a notch above the rest. I ended up ordering a few of them enlarged to 20"x 30" and had them framed to put in my garage and office. Make sure to "click to enlarge" to make sure you see all the high resolution detail... enjoy!

Thanks a lot, I've admired your 3.9 for a long time as well. I've often given thought to selling this car for a 997.2 GT3, GT3RS, or RS 4.0, but each time I can't get myself to part with this widebody conversion. If this trend were to continue through the 991 GT3's, I probably will go the 3.9 route with this engine.

Thanks for the compliment. If you do a search for threads started by me, you'll see a whole thread dedicated to this car with a ton of photos. As far as the build goes, it was done by a meticulous craftsman name Loren at this place:

As far as wheel widths, I'm running 18 x 13 rears, and 18 x 9.5 fronts. As far as tires go, I'm using Hoosier R6's at 335/30 18 rears and 255/40 18 fronts.

Thanks! I do remember that shot...it was taken in downtown Columbia, SC. Although I'm not sure where you dug it up from
Looks like you could fit 11's in the front possibly. Can you really feel a difference in the handling of the car with the wider wheels? I'm contemplated some fender flares for my TT to get to RSR wheel widths (12 front 13 rear). The grip must be insane!!!
I knew you had the GT3 itch pretty bad.....and it looks like you scratched it well! I checked out your GT3 and it's pretty sweet and I bet a blast on the track.
Thanks for the compliments.

I think you're right about the 11's up front. I get slight rubbing of the fronts as it is, but only at full turn lock (which never happens during actual driving). Rubbing issues aside, there is plenty of room under the front fenders for wider rubber.
As far as the difference in feel.....yes! It is super noticeable. We can do suspension mods and tweaks all day long, but in my opinion, nothing gives you the feel of more grip and more stability than super huge contact patches of tire rubber.
I believe you run your car at CMP, which is the home track where I have my club membership. Going through the carousel, my car gobbles up most cars like a bunch of little guppies. I'm able to get traction and accelerate in areas where most people are either drifting or feathering their throttles.
