GT3/GT2 Performance and Track Discussion on the Porsche GT3 and GT2

From someone who DIYs their BMW M3 entirely, is the 997 GT3RS as DIYable?

Thanks for the replies so far guys. Based on what has been said I feel component that a GT3/RS is DIY-friendly. More advice is always appreciated.

Plugs are a pain on the gt3. Oil change takes longer on dry sump.

Neither will stop you. Just giving you an idea, that's all. Unlike m3, the Porsche has a lot more oil and service interval is much longer.

No issues w/ maintenance... The hardest part will be changing wheels on a 997.2 w/ the center lock!

I've done everything from small projects to the full engine pull (without lift) to do both my coolant fittings as well as light wight flywheel and clutch. No problems with any of it. Actually one of the bigger pains in the rear is a simple plug change but it just takes some patience, universal joint and a few lengths of extensions and you will be fine.
You used a jack to drop the engine?

Though you should be fine but it is not un-usual for motor skills to regress with age and who knows what happens in the next decade

You'll be fine. I was very surprised at how easy the 997s are to wrench on.

Fantastic!
I secretly cant wait to drop my engine at some point after I get a GT3... Hopefully its for preventative maintenance.

What type of resources did you have to do the work? I have not seen even a small amount of DIY guides as we had for the E46 M3. Are the Porsche workshop manuals available for the .1 GT3?

I am also coming from two E46 M3 (02 and 04) that I did all the work on...
