New Porsche 991 GT3. First Drive. - CHRIS HARRIS ON CARS

If we were a car magazine we'd call this a WORLD EXCLUSIVE, but we're not, so we won't. Let's just say we got very early access to the car everyone wants to know about. And it was very, very good. Volume to 11 please.

any one else catch him hitting the nonexistent clutch pedal before turning the key?

awesome ****er for doing that.

but, he encompasses everything correctly, objectively the manual is missed deeply by some, but for every 1 that doesnt buy it because of its lack of manual, 3 or 4 will buy it because of it.

I am a little bit dissapointed that he didnt use paddles and stick and of course the free review-paddleshift system , but its a great car

Can't wait!

It will be interesting to see how the market responds to the 991 GT3, but I have a feeling it will be a sales success since nearly everyone has given into the 'flappy paddle' game at this point. It is no doubt going to be an extremely fast and capable car, but probably not loved by the purists (where have we heard that before?).

You know history loves to repeat itself after all. :)

The sound at redline is glorious. I am not completely sold, but this video does have me much more tempted now.

I doubt that will come standard either...

Anyways, here is to hoping to some limited edition "retro 991 GT3"
in either case, I'm waiting for the face lift to draw up my conclusion

it can shift in 0.0000000000000000001 seconds.. the point is there is no fun ^_^
as for catless exhausts, I highly doubt that would be road legal.

I was hoping Chris compared this new 991GT3 to the newest GTR since both cars are getting more high tech. Ironic how Porsche have something that may beat the all mighty GTR from something Nissan used on their 300zx decades ago.

Great video and good review by Chris. Im sure Porsche will sell a lot of these cars and wont think twice about not having a manual (standard) gearbox. As for me I could go either way. Im not a purist but I love rowing the gears.

The point of the video was not to compare the car to any other car, other then the 997, it was to simply review how the car drove, felt etc.... On a side not I dont think that when Porsche engineers are designing the new GT3 or TT they are spending much time thinking about what Nissan is doing.

I've actually caught a few references that the Porsche engineers made towards the Nissan GTR, so I do believe they consider it a firm competitor (albeit at a lower price point). There is no denying whatsoever that Porsche did need to up their game (starting with the 997.2 Turbo) to respond to Nissan's GTR though...it was a game changer whether you like it or not. ;)
