Sapphire Blue vs. Monte Carlo Blue

I was out at Cars and Coffee on Sunday. We decided to pull the two Monte Carlo Blue M5s next to my Sapphire Blue 911. There are varying shades to both colors depending on the angle and lighting. In person, the Sapphire is just a tiny bit darker blue. If you are thinking Sapphire and can't see one in person, find an M5 in Monte Carlo. It is very, very close.

Love the pictures! The blue is just amazing in the sunlight.

That is just an incredible shade of blue....not to light, but not to dark.

Also, I love how this car sits so much lower...its a good 2 to 3 inches lower than the Beemer.

GT3 Paint Correction

So if you haven’t declared my crazy yet, you may change your mind should you decide to waste 3+ hours of your life to watch my goofy videos. I’ve already done a step-by-step paint correction using mostly photos in my other journals. For the GT3, I thought I would set-up my camera and talk you through my entire process.

Now I know there are lots of detailing tutorials and videos online, but they usually gloss over the details in interest of entertainment/production value or don’t want to divulge all of the secrets. I wanted to put something together for those that enjoy doing this stuff themselves. I’m not selling any products and don’t have an agenda. I’m just a super nerd that loves doing this stuff. I have a unique gift to do endless research and seem to have a ton of free time on my hands. I am simply posting this to share with others that are like me. That, and I don’t have any friends.

To qualify these videos, I am not a professional. I don’t detail for money. I will not detail cars that are not my own due to the time investment. My time is worth much more to me than the money someone would pay me. Not to mention, who would pay me my hourly rate to do this anyway? I don’t claim to know it all, but I’ve developed a pretty decent process through extensive research, spending thousands of dollars, and many years of trial and error.

There isn’t any techno music and there is a ton of dead space as I filmed pressure washing, polishing, taping, etc. I kept the camera running a lot during the videos and pretended I was talking to someone that wanted to learn what I know. I hope these videos help you skip some of the mistakes I’ve made over the years. Thanks for entertaining my obsessive tendencies.

Matt

Thanks for all the hard work putting the video together. Very informative, and a great resource for those of us that like to do stuff ourselves.

Simply amazing job, your attention to detail (no pun intended) is remarkable. The effort taken to document your process, share information and record/post video is phenomenal. Fantastic!

Love your posts. Trying to get into a 2015 White GT3. Your thread is awesome. Keep it coming.

Cheers

Thanks for all of the kind words! I found a new spot to go make a video of the Sharkwerks bypass. I should have a video up this weekend.

Hey Matt,

Was a pleasure meeting you this past weekend. Amazing car - all the right options and the perfect color! Nice to meet another "car" guy in Lake County. We'll have to do a drive through the only "hills" in Florida sometime.

Alan
