997.2 gt3 v gt4

i own the 2010 997.2 GT3 with 20K miles on it. i saw the GT4 and was thinking of the change as the GT4 would be a brand new car V a 5 years old car that i have!! my heart is with GT3, what do advise me? and where do u see the value of the 2 cars 2-3 years down the road?

thanks

I am excited about the GT4 but slightly dissapointed that it does not have a true "GT" motor. Everything else I have heard and the appearance of the car is very appealing. I can never predict future values but IMO the GT3 will continue to be the more desirable car.

The GT4 looks great in person, is mid engined, a manual and finally has the 3.8 from the Carerra. With that said I would still rather have your GT3 and in the long run still believe your car will be more desirable. I'd stick with the GT3 w 20k on the clock.

GT4 not dry sump... No good for track?

Another vote for the GT3 for all the above reasons.

The motor in the GT4 is the Carrera S motor. It is in the Cayman 180 degree out from the Carrera mount and has a different intake and slightly detuned to 385hp Possibly due to intake but in reality I am sure they were doing what Porsche has been trying to do for so long and that is to keep the boxster and cayman under powered so as not to cannibalize 911 sales.

I saw a white GT4 here in SD at a PCA event, he says he has the first one in socal. It is of course, very cool, but white would not be my choice, it hides the lines of the car. Other than that, wow wow wow. Cant imagine any Porsche owner who would not want to spend a few minutes behind the wheel of that car.

I saw a black GT4 and it did look awesome. That said it is still no GT3.

Huge trade down to go from a GT3 to a GT4 (except maybe a 996 GT3)

I thought about a 997.2 GT3 for a minute, but a brand new GT4 with buckets and PTS ended up being the no-brainer choice for me.

Good choice on the Slate! Can't wait to see it.

I would trade someone my 997.2 GT3 for a GT4 if they purchased and are now wanting go to the GT3 side...

I keep thinking I need to grab a GT4 the more I look into them.

GT4 is sexy and new but as stated above... had Carrera S engine although with 991.1 GT3 suspension. Your 997.2 GT3 is already instant classic... Last Manual Mezger!

SGNTR35 06-24-2016 08:00 AM

Minus the new car smell, warranty and modern creature comforts, motor wise, I felt the gt4 was not as inspiring as the high revving mezger. The obvious long gearing was set to assure no mid engine non 911 didn't outperform the brand's iconic 911. I passed my "non markup" allocation to keep my 997.2. I drive the company GT4 2-3x a week. I think the car is awesome as an additional mate to the stable, not a replacement for the GT3

Would keep the gt3, gt4 is overrated a bit imo
