NR Auto GT4 Side Intake Vents Installed on our 981 Cayman S

The 981 Cayman S project vehicle is in full swing with new modifications coming in weekly. In the last post we made the vehicle received some very good looking MRR FS2 Flow Forged wheels with a brushed dark clear. Even though we have a few performance modifications on the back burner right now, we are sticking to visual mods this time around. NR Auto has a very attractive side scoop for these vehicles with a simple stick on installation. We will talk about this in detail below.

The rear air scoops for the 981 Cayman and 981 Boxster are functional pieces that allow air flow into the engine. Because this platform has a mid-engine layout, the entire engine sits directly behind the driver and passenger. In order to bring in fresh air into the intakes, Porsche created these “vents” to allow an unrestricted path directly into the engine bay. On the Porsche Cayman GT4 these air scoops are more pronounced, which promotes more air flow into these intake paths. To replicate this look and function, we installed the GT4 Style side pods.

These NR Auto side pods come in two different variations. First in a primered base that is ready for paint. The second version comes paint matched and ready to install on the vehicle. We chose the latter, paint matched version, so we could have a quick and easy install. The item comes with 3m Double sided tape pre-applied to secure to the body of the vehicle. A quick alcohol cleaning and some heat allow you to easily mold this and attach this part to the body. Some added silicon adhesive was recommended, so we applied some to the inside for good measure.

The fit and finish of this product was very high quality and matched the factory Porsche paint perfectly. Install was simple, the results were spectacular! We were very happy with the end results and would do this all over again in a heartbeat.

Side note: We had a crazy storm here in AZ last night. Our parking lot isn't usually that dirty!
