xxK markup on 2018 GT3

10K markup on 2018 GT3 from a socal. Thoughts? Is that below or above average for markups at this moment?

Pretty good for SoCal

Pretty good based on my experience in Orange County. I just bought mine and I can tell you I paid more.

Fkim011 12-21-2017 08:35 AM

That's actually really good.

Way below, and usually its a bait and switch. Most in So Cal is asking at least $30k over. The ones I have seen were asking for more than that and got them.

Was just at Irvine porsche, they have 3 991.2 GT3, 2 of them are 6MT asking $35k over, the PDK one is asking $25k over. Newport Beach is at $25k and the best deal i found was $15k over in Beverly Hills. Good luck.

You can easily find cars for $15k-$20k over...don't pay more.

Many seem to be asking $25-35k over but I suspect most are not clearing there. Have been offered 2 (admittedly pdk) from a dealer in the OC at $10k over. But with no prior relationship other than they know I was looking for a .2.

I live only a few minutes from that dealer. They will negotiate with you (not a ton, but they will).

I almost bought one from them but found a better one at McKenna in LA, off the 605.

As for everyone else here, if you just call and ask, they will give you a hard number at $30-40K over. If you spend some time and do the leg work (go see the showroom, talk to sales, ask questions, and express genuine interest), they will work with you.

Keep in mind that the lower optioned GT3s (with MSRP of less than $165-168K or so) will have less room for negotiation. Higher optioned GT3s will have more room. This is just from what I've seen when I was shopping.

Honestly at $15-20K over it isn't really that bad. I paid a tiny bit more, but I'm happy with the car and that's what matters to me.

Time goes on! Plenty of 2018s on the market, some now at MSRP. The flippers must be going crazy.

I have yet to see one at msrp, not quite there yet but they are slowly coming down

Cars.com, plenty of listings, with pics that indicate they are not automatic listings. I was surprised. Others look too be down to about 10k over although people think they'll still be able to get 30k over. Lots of cars available shows how soft the market is. Even seen a few manual cars.

shamoo 02-01-2018 11:16 AM

That isn't true. You'll see the ad posted @ MSRP. Until you call them and they want $10-50K over.

There are zero cars at MSRP because they would be gone in an instant. Rennlist and other P-car forums search hard as there are tons of people waiting for their cars. Even people with deposits from 2 years ago aren't getting them.

If you have one available for MSRP, I'll buy it right now. I bought mine at a significant markup.

Dealers will always advertise MSRP online. When you actually call them then they hit you with the "oh btw, there's a 30K ADM"

Gotcha. But there is a big difference between 10k and 50k over. Asking 10k over on a 150k is very little and every asking price is negotiable. There may be dealer markup, but it's not like every car is spoken for. If there are many cars on the market, the car is not that hard to get. Just reflecting the facts. I am not yet in the market, but would hesitate based on these market signals.
