Erik, the stereo at least should have been an option.

Thanks Khaled, We wish we had a track , You Bahraini's are very fortunate of having one, BTW the 997GT3RS looks very good on Orange, with black reminds me of the 2.7Rs from the 70's

NO 3.8 AND ONLY 44 LBS LIGHTER................WTF?

You have to look beyond weight and power to appreciate this car. The entire suspension system is different and the revised gear ratios with the single-mass flywheel will make the car much more focused. Ok so they should have made the stereo and AC an option but most of us will add them anyone, espcially the AC.

So you want to have a hardcore 911 but also AC? The stereo is probably lighter than the AC and as they say 'to be beautiful you have to suffer' or something like that, change the 'beautiful' for 'fast' and you'll see where I'm going. :D

Suffer I don't mind but it is certain death here in this part of the world 4wheels.:D

I was expecting more than a 40 lbs diet. I also really wanted to see manual roll up windows. Seems like it's Americanized.

I was told that the GT3 RS may be a bit slower than the GT3 due to the fact that it is wider...don't know if this is true though...

I wonder what US pricing will be ?

stated top speed is 310kph, or just about 194mph.

so its not any slower.

the question is the acceleration times. Porsche seem to be playing coy here. they've given 0-60mph times (which we all know to be useless for a car like this,) and also the 0-124mph/0-200kph times. but for the regular GT3, they never officially gave times for the 0-124mph, AFAIK.

also, they mention a short ratio tranny. but short ratio in relation to what? in relation to the regular GT3? or in relation to the Carrera S?

the press release can be interpreted to be saying that the ratios are actually the same as for a regular GT3. and the faster revving of the engine, and slightly quicker 0-60mph times come from the 20kg weight reduction.

i'm just speculating of course ;)

one thing's for sure, with wider track and suitably revised suspension, this thing will definitely shave off a few more seconds off the GT3's already impressive 'Ring times.

I scanned the article...so it appears that this will be coming to the US. Now, will be it US street legal?

Doesn't it look a bit like the RUF Rt12?
