heavy clutch and the GT3
A friend of mine told me the clutch on the 996 GT3 is very heavy. He didn't buy one because of that (he got a 997S instead). He warned me about the possibility of a heavy clutch on the 997 GT3. I've read about the PASM on the new GT3 "improving" the ride in general but I haven't seen anything about the clutch.
Anyone know the deal with the clutch?? I have a February build GT3. I don't even think a 100 lb clutch would stop me from getting it but I'ld like to tell him something.

Honestly, if you do not buy the car because of its clutch being too heavy then you will never appreciate the car for what it is meant to be anyways. The car is not meant to be comfortable and if the heavy clutch bothers you then you will not truely appreciate the car and belong more so in a 997S anyways(nothing taken from the 997 S which in its own right is awesome). This is not directed at you, instead your friend who passed up such a great car because of a clutch (which btw is not that heavy anyways). The clutch to me does not feel heavy but even if I had to go to the gym and work on my calf muscles to be able to drive this car I would. It is that much fun and the last of the PURE 911s.
The GT3 is not about a comfy ride, a nice sound system or a easy drive. It is about the power of the brakes, the versatility of the engine, the handling, the raw feel you used to get with 911s. There is no better drivers car out there. I have driven everything from lambos, to ferraris, to every version of a p-car and nothing compares to the feel of the GT3. I would not trade her anything under 300k(carrera GT, F40, Mclaren F1s, and Zondas are a different story). If someone walked up to me and said give us your GT3 and we will give you a Ferrari 430 I would say no thank you. The ferrari is an AWESOME machine and sexy as hell, but it lacks the feel of the GT3.
I hope you do not pass up your spot because honestly you are missing out on one of the greatest driving experiences ever! I see in your list of cars that you have a 993(which happens to be my favorite body style 911). The 993 was the last raw model line of porsches. The GT3 takes you back to that feeling. If you like your 993 you will LOVE the GT3. I promise you that.

I can't speak about the GT3 clutch but I am hoping it is a hard clutch..I find most cars lack clutch 'feel'...my 1990 C4 has a heavy clutch too, than many might not like, I prefer it to most...
I have a GT3 on order and am glad to hear it is heavier in feel than reg 997...

Ya gotta love a hydraulic clutch.
Go step on an M3 clutch after driving a GT3.
It's like it has no clutch at all.
GT3's are not for the average buyer.
The Carrera is the mass market P Car so they will have a nice soft giving and relaxing clutch.

I drive mine in Los Angels's morning rush hour traffic about 2 to 3 times a week and the clutch doesn't bother me a bit, in fact I love that direct mechanical feel of the clutch which I can feel the exact engagement point and how progressive it is. I don't feel the same in a Turbo though.
Even before I added the LWF the clutch on my 05 was not an issue. Boyracer has put my thoughts to words. The GT3 is the best car I have ever owned...bar none. You will not have a problem with the clutch.
didn't buy the 997 Turbo one reason was because the clutch was too light/soft. i like heavy clutch. sounds like ur friend doesn't like it on the heavy side. what DO U LIKE?
i think the GT2 & 3 clutch are just right & awesome. not a fan of hydraulic set up.
