I have a Porsche 997 S that I have just recently started taking to the track. I got it as a daily driver, that the wife was going to drive sometimes, so I got a tiptronic, I soon realized I was putting too many miles on it so I leased a daily driver and now I use the P car on weekends and track days, and I love the way it drives on the track but now that I have a few track days under my belt, I hate the tiptronic...
I am considering a wide range of cars to buy in it's place, starting with F430, Gallardo, GT3RS, GT3, Exige S, Z06, Ford GT, Vantage or ?
I was out at Cal Speedway this past Saturday and there were alot of Vettes, and I started to like them... I wish I could have driven one. They seem like alot of bang for the buck. there was also a Ferrari in the beginner group and he claimed that my Porsche was better for the track than his car... I need a car mainly for the track but I also want to be able to take it out in the canyons on the weekends when I'm not at the track...
I'm not a rich guy and there are obvious price differences between the cars, so I'm curious what you guys think about this.

For intimate feedback, sublime steering and unbelievable handling, I would try the ExigeS- you might be surprised.
It's anything but practical, but once your seated inside, you won't want to get out. I'm not denying that the GT3 is a faster and probablly "better" car all around, but there's nothing like driving a Lotus on the track- it's a wonderful drive.

If money wasn't an option, i prefer the F430 (its pure sex imo). For nearly half the price, the GT3 is an amazing car. I drove a new one a couple weeks ago and just loved it. Fast, tight with a sweet exhaust note. I imagine the GT3RS is only better.

) but it's not the choice for track. 997 GT3 is better and faster at the track.
(1 second in Hockenheim, ~8 seconds in Nordschleife, with the same driver)
Gallardo is also very fast when driven hard...Anyway for the ease of ownership and the great driving experience of a 911, get the GT3 (no need for RS).

Or a 360 Challenge Stradale!
I vote exige s for the type of car your looking for. YOu said you want a weekend car for the track that you can occasionally go to the bends. The exige s is the best car for the track and has the best driver feedback of any of these cars you mentioned. I would DEFINATELY test drive the lotus before forgetting about it.
