Thanks for correcting my math and perspective... i better double check how much i paid for my 911!

But you're right heavychevy, that is a dumb measurement to compare.

Cheers!

If the m3 dropped about 500lbs it might hold up better, the only time m3's can really compete with porsches are with the motorsport chassis. Street cars BMW just has to much weight.

Some are coining the E92 M3 CSL as faster than the GT3 already, and there is no info on the car except some spy pictures from the ring. Of course all these are M3 guys. But this car will weigh in the 3500-3600 lb range, they will have to do lots of work to get it down. Of course the GT3 isnt exactly anorexic at 3200+ lbs.

I don't even think a heavily modded M3 is gonna give a GT3 much trouble.

The CSL isnt heavily modded, it's tons lighter and more track focused. With a good driver (if it follows the same trend as the E46 CSL vs GT3), it will be a formidable opponent for a GT3. The E46 M3 CSL ran a 7:50 at the ring, which is very much so competitve for the 996 GT3.

I agree the comparison would be more fair if between the CSL vs GT3 and the regular M3 vs 997s.

Well when they (E92 CSL's) show up at the corner BMW store let me know. What I meant is that a US spec car with mods is still not going to be much trouble for the GT3.

Yea but thats a different 3200 pounds, its a mid-rear engine setup two seater that sits lower and wider on the ground with less drag than the m3. If we had a tad bit more power and alot less weight it might be better, I hope the CSL lives up to the hype. BMW is starting to lean towards Fast Saloons like Mercedes, and is starting to leave the fun lightweight motorsports side. We need a chassis mix between the e30 & e36 m3 with the new m3 powerplant, that would be more of a contender, 3klbs 400hp in an m3 would be alot of fun.

I like to see the comparison between new M3 vs 997S. At least both has 4 seats.

They are in KPH not MPH, that is 50-74 MPH. It is likely a 6th gear accleration test.

I.E. the only possible way they could find that the M3 could win something.
