i'm new here. plan to lease a GT3.
hey, i'm new here. i don't know anything about porsche... i will move to Vancouver soon. i plan to lease a porsche GT3. but hard to make this decision. i'm just wondering which is better to drive between porsche GT3 and ferrari 360 modena. i know the price for GT3,but how much for 360 modena? and if i buy a GT3,what options should i take? i will choose seal grey with full Natural Leather. good taste? and what is the good deal for a 3 years leasing.

Welcome, I would opt for a GT3 over a 360, just my opinion, remember what the GT3 is about and keep her simple, good luck with your decision.
|
I would guess 140 grand (USD in the US) for a 2001 Modena coupe.. I would go for the 360... but the GT3 is faster, more reliable and more practical
|
depends how much you need to drive it.. 360 youll get crazy attention. Cant really park anywhere without giving serious consideration. GT3 more reliable. GT3 identifies you as a person who really likes porsche cars & performance driving.. 360 identifies you IMHO as a person who likes bling bling ...
other 360 owners, no offense im not trying to stereotype here. their are lots of serious ferrari sports car fans who have 360's for solid reasons.. i just can think of many with GT3 for the wrong reasons. |
Weather is a big, big issue here.....
you're moving to within 120 miles of the very wettest part of the North American continent, so I would seriously advise you consider getting a 996TT with all the very useful safety kit on it. A GT3 with no PSM isn't the ideal car for a wet and oft icy locale. Think hard about what you want your car for, and how many days a year you want to use it. A TT will be your best bet in that environment IMHO.

Also, the 360 Modena will be replaced shortly by a substantially better 430 model. The Ferrais make quantum leaps in there models, the GT3 will keep it's performance edge for a while longer. In many tests the GT3 has outperformed the souped up 360 Challenge Stradale, so if all out speed, and performance is what you are looking for the GT3 makes sense. If it is about appearance, owning a Ferrari, great veisceral thrill than the 360 might be a good choice.

BTW, the regular 360 is also a more entertaining and fun car to drive than the GT3, imho. If you're planning on doing a lot of track driving, definitely go with the GT3. Just my 2 cents, based upon actually owning/driving these cars, for what that's worth. :) |
jack,
how about discussing running costs, if run hard for say 10,000 miles.... |
finally,i activated my account :D
hey, i think both cars has lots of attention in the public.actually, just depends the tastes of the ppl. for the interior i like porsche, for the exterior, ferrari give more attention. i have never testdrived any. but in spec, ferrari 360 has 400HP V8. porsche has 380 H6. but all ppl said that, GT3 is faster than 360.
|
why it's faster? and i use the car to drive daily to go to work.. it's not far.. but i will use it for daily driving.. what suggestion?

996TT

Originally posted by watt jack, how about discussing running costs, if run hard for say 10,000 miles.... First scheduled maintenance for a 360 occurs at 5K miles (cost ~ $1K), second at 15K miles (cost ~$1K) and then every 15K miles thereafter. Major service, including changing timing/cam belts, all fluids, filters, etc., (every 30K miles) runs about ~$3.5K. Owned my 360 for almost 4 years, and it depreciated less during that time than a 996TT does in its first year of ownership. Let's not talk about GT2's. :p I like Porsches and Ferraris -- one should own them both, it builds character. BTW, Ferraris do have warranties -- 3yrs/unlimited mileage. :D |

Being on the other end of that AB comparison with Jack, I have to agree with Jack's assessment 100%. The feel and sound of the CS is second to none. Sorry Watt;)
