what's the deal with the gas tank?

ok this maybe a noob question. i am having a hard time with the gas tank. the gas pump wont work on the gallardo. i have to manually hold back the spring seal of the gas pump to fill the tank and it keeps stopping. it is frustrating and annoying to keep squeezing the gas out of the pump because i wont stay locked.

:confused::confused::confused:

anyone got a solution for this? thanks.

Dude, it sucks

Here's what you need to do; pull the collar on the spicket

OR, as many owners have done, go ghetto; go to home depo and get a collar that fits over the opening so that it pushes the collar.

lmao pulling the collar on the spicket is annoying as hell. after i fill half a tank i give up lol. it really sucks. might try to go the ghetto way and make what you suggested. there must be some solution to this out there other than the ghetto fix. some one in the lambo research lab must have run into this when filling their tank. i cant imagine that they have a different type of gas pump. arrrg.

thanks.

It is annoying...I felt retarded when it happened to me but then I realized it was the fuel tank not me. If you find a fix let all of us other retards know.

lol i felt like a retard trying to figure it out while a ton of people were starting to gather around my car. hahahaha i think after a while they were probably thinking i was a dumb ass for not knowing how to pump gas into my own car. lol

There was a discussion about this on Lambopower awhile back. Do a search over there to solve the issue.

Google search for the phrase "filling up with gas in a gallardo"

Top link is the solution I use, works great. Yeah it is ghetto and annoying, but it works. When filling up, hold the pump in the direction pointing towards the front of the car from the back, works better that way.

It's the plastic piece that works best (all from the home depot) -- its alot better than holding the spicket collar

certain gas stations work, others dont...from my experience Shell and Sheetz pumps work great...SUNOCO, CITGO and Exxon dont work

awesome, just what i was locking for. the 2nd link is our own discussion thread lol.

i wonder if i should make something that looks better rather than some ghetto solution lol.

in case anyone else is looking for this, it is a 2" electrical pvc cap. i had to buy a few different ones in different sizes to get the right one.
