When they unveiled the concepts at the Paris auto show the Esprit was announced to utilize a 5.0L Toyota sourced engine. However, recent news says that Lotus higher ups are pushing for a in house designed and built V8 for the car.
Apparently not many people were high on the idea of paying $150K for a Lotus with a Toyota truck engine.

Correct me if I am wrong but aren't teh truck engines and the nascar engines toyotas use very similiar?
