Lotus Elise For Dummies ?
 
Well recently i have been looking at Lotus Elises. I need To do my Homework, Which i have been doing on lotus talk. But what do you guys think. The Owners.

what are some common problems ?

what to look out for ?

the pros ? the cons ?

what do you love and hate about you're lotus.

Based on my experience with them 06+ have the "needed" updates.

its a rwd celica with a body kit. nothing is gonna go wrong with it. buy the cleanest nicest one you can afford, drive the balls off it, enjoy.

i come as close to daily driving mine as any sane person should, including snow. its a very reliable little car.

squeaks and rattles can get tiring at times

I just sold my exige, which I daily drove for about a year. They're pretty much bulletproof, the only thing I would say to watch out for is premature cam wear. I had to replace one of my camshafts due to wear on the high lift lobe at around 30k miles. It's easy to check just pop the valve cover off and feel the highest point of the high lift lobes, if you can feel a ridge with your fingernail then you're gonna need to replace the cam. It's a known problem on these cars, but nobody is quite sure why it happens.
