Dear 6speed: Maserati Question?
Dear 6speed: Masarati Question?
Ok so the CLS is gone and need a new DD, ive been debating on a few cars one of which is the QP. Please excuse my ignorance but ive never dealt with italian automobiles and know absolutly nothing.
Just wanted to know the pros and cons of the QP from current or previous owners. Any reasons not to own this car??
Any and all information is gladly appreciated

have owned a QP for a couple years. the best thing about the car is the handling and uniqueness. The weight distribution makes the car feel like a much smaller car. It could use a few more horses under the hood though. had a few creeks in it but the dealer solved it eventually. i've driven a friend's cls 55 and that car feels more powerful but the QP isn't built to race off the line. more importance was put on the handling. the only thing that I don't like about the car is the depreciation. If I were to get another 4 door family car tomorrow, i'd get another QP.

I would definitely get an 06 or 07. As far as servicing goes, so far it hasn't been any more than any other car. I had heard that a lot of the ones with the paddles had issues. especially the early ones. but was told that if I drive it in sport/manual mode, it shouldn't be an issue. I personally prefer to drive using the paddles over the newer automatic anyway. sorry, i don't have the service log book handy.
current owner: 2006 executive gt
pros: rare (relatively speaking), handles like a 2door sports car, pretty fast, awesome cruiser
cons: maintenance, smallish backseat (i dont care, rearely in the back seat), flappy paddles (dont bother me either)
other than that i cant think nor have i ran into anything else
