GranTurismo Transmission details....???

im looking at gran turismo's and i notice some difference in the transmissions and im wondering if someone can help me iron out the facts since the dealers i talk to dont seem to know a double clutch trans from a hole in the ground.

on 08's i read that the transmission is from BMW, would this be more like SMG or DCT?

on 09's i read that they have a different transmission that doesnt have a shifter at all thats more like ferrari f1 trans? (is it sourced from ferrari?)

and then i read somewhere else that before 08 the transmissions are something else entirely?

can someone please help me out on the facts for the "auto" transmissions on the gran turismo's...

thank you very much.

As far as I understand, the only non-automatic Maserati was a 2009 Gran Turismo S model. That one had a single-clutch automated manual (similar to BMW's SMG). From 2010 on, they switched back to full automatic for all models since apparently that is what customers prefer. I guess they thought automatic is a lot smoother and more in-line with a GT car.
