Were you ever able to diagnose what was wrong with your Vantage? I purchased a crashed Vantage here in CO from copart and it's showing similar symptoms to what you outlined, dead dash, won't start, etc. I was wondering if you ever figured out what the fix is?
Adnanm3: Question did you every get your inertia switch issue sorted. I just got a 2006 AM V8 Vantage and it kicking out two codes consistently: Throttle body stuck open and fuel pump offline. So the car cranks, kicks to life briefly, then just dies. I have been reading your posts and I was just wondering if you had the chance to figure out what the issue was.
My V8V was moved in a container and I am thinking it may have received a jolt that may have triggered the inertia switch. So I am looking at the options to correct it. Any help appreciated.
Did you ever get to the bottom of your 996 tranny problem ? What was it ?
What year is your 996 ? Turbo ? Mileage ? I ask, as i am having the same exact problem with my '03 996 TT w/ 43K mileage. I am told by 3 different reputable Porsche mechanics it is the 2 gear synchro and about a $2K repair min. So we can either live with the noise & don't downshift in to 2nd gear, or pony up $2K and fix it. As Matt @ TPWS (Targa Porsche Work Shop) in Austin said, "brakes are cheaper than transmissions."
