And I'm sorry, when you have a accident as described (trapped between a guardrail and truck) and NOT A SINGLE SCRATCH to be found, you'll have to forgive my skepticism. Wrinkles and creases, that's all this car has. Have you ever seen a car with only wrinkles and crease an NO missing paint -let alone destruction of this caliber? Also, this latest photo -before the car was flipped... why are the tires so much cleaner? You can see the driver's side tire in 2 of the photos.

But hey, they could be real and I'm just a hopeless skeptic. If the photos ARE real, the photog really should look into upgrading their camera or phone.

No, she was not buckled up which is STUPID no matter the circumstances. I am glad she is ok but I will have to get it through her head that she needs to wear a seatbelt. I hope she doesnt think that since not wearing one saved her life this once that she shouldnt wear them.

Also, the picture are not post processed or anything. Her brother took these photos on his cell phone. It is a blackberry bold if I remember so no the best camera.

This is the second friend who has had this happen in the last year on the same highway. Both were thrown or of the car or the would have died. The other car that this happened to a few months ago was a Tahoe and it landed in a river after flipping. That friend was hurt much more severely but is 100% recovered now.

This is why I hate driving next to 18-wheelers

What I don't understand is your thread is titled about the safety of the car and how she only had a broken foot from the accident. Which is just amazing after looking at the pictures. But later you say she was thrown from the car before it started to tumble or she would have had worse injuries and oh yeah she has a broken pelvis.

I don't see how the cars safety did anything for her and it seems to me that by not wearing a seatbelt she was actually lucky because she was thrown from the car.

I am glad she is ok but this thread doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

Very good car. Top Gear once called Volvo's a box to hold your airbags. I thought that was funny. I am glad to see you are putting a premium on your families safety.

PS: Y'all run a great company. I am about to order my 10th set of tires from y'all. The S4 needs new Michelin PS2's. I have always received the tires the next day except for a set that I had shaved and they only took two days.

The car protected her from the initial impact as well as the first roll. She does not have much recollection of the events but this is what the accident investigators pieced together.
