G63 AMG Reliability/Resale?

All,

I don't see a comprehensive post about this online, but I wanted to ask the question. I'm interested in picking up a G63, and had some questions to ask.

1) In terms of the G, it's pretty amazing to me how relatively slowly these things depreciate after the first two years out of the low. Even the early 2000s Gs on places like autotrader with a ton of miles are still going to around 40K. For the G63, the curve seems to be relatively similar. In terms of depreciation, is it safe to assume it will depreciate like the G550 line?

2) How is the reliability of the G63 and the V8 TT powertrain that is in the vehicle? I don't see too many issues online of people having issues with the G63 but I wanted to collect some data from the folks on here.

Let me know. Any other advise would be appreciated. Thanks.

I had a 15 G550 and you should actually drive both first. I get wanting the g63 because of the HP numbers but if you have never been in a G Wagon you will earn quickly you need some serious balls to keep that pedal down and actually hit a curve. The G550 has a lot softer suspension that many swap over into the 63 and 55's. They arent that kind of vehicle and the only reason you get the 63 is for the emblem and bragging rights. The same reason that the 65's are even cheaper than the 63's, they are faster but ride even worse.

Nothing more reliable than a NA V8. I did a Renntech tune and it made up about half the difference in performance. I would find a Designo NA G550 as the leather is a lot better than standard. I would then take the savings and get a tune, better tires, and some good shocks. They are the last hand built so called real Mercedes. The new ones are not the same.

You will notice there are a ton for sale but the people that are actually selling are the ones listed about $10k lower than the others. There are so many low mile ones because people bought them not understanding what they were getting. They are like driving a time warp. That said once garage space opens up i'm getting another.
