For Sale: 1978 Rolex 1675 MK5 GMT Pepsi w/ 78360 bracelet
 

After much deliberation, I have decided to put up my 1978~ 1675 MK5 for sale. It doesn’t get as much wrist time as it should and recently, I’ve figured out that I am much more of a modern timepiece wearer. I am not a 1675 expert, so hopefully I do my best to describe this based on my OCD research and I encourage you to look through the pictures. If you have any questions please let me know. In the album, I have included a few random wrist shots I've taken in the past for reference outside of the outdoor shots I just took today.

Also for those on 6speed, i have sold some watches on here in the past and can provide references across many different watch forums.

Serial: 5.4M serial

Dial and Hands: Dial is a MK5 with the signature ovoid "O"s on the chronometer line. The lume is great and has a cream color with matching hands. The dial has not been refinished and only shows the slightest sign of lume missing on the edge of the markers under loupe. Again, this is an original dial and has not been re-lumed.

Bezel: Red back period correct mid font insert, faded blue jean at the top and a cranberry type color on the bottom. Compression ring still intact and most likely original to the watch given the patina (see pictures).

Crystal: The crystal has a few scratches but given that it is acrylic, it can be easily removed with a cloth and plastic polish. I opted not to because I liked the look. The crystal is still in great shape and Mist likely original to the watch.

Date Wheel: Period correct silver date wheel with open 6, open 9

Movement Accuracy: I timed this watch a month or so ago and it was running 4 seconds off a day, most likely last serviced in 2014 given the marking on the inside of the caseback.

Case: I would guess the case has been polished 2-3 times before but there is a hint of a bevel still present on the case. There is some solid honest wear on it and has not been polished recently. On the back of the case, there is an engraving most likely from the original owner. After speaking with some people, this looks like a Texas Drivers License number, most likely put there in case this watch ever got lost. I’m trying to get some people I know to look up who this person is to make sure it isn’t anyone famous 😊

Crown and Tube: In June of this year, the crown tube and crown were replaced with genuine Rolex parts since the old parts were worn out and would not fully screw down. It passed pressure and water testing.

Bracelet: Bracelet is a 78360 with one 580 endlink and one 501B end link, with the latter most likely replaced during a service. Clasp is a VB dated clasp in great shape, snaps closed solidly, and was most likely original to the watch. There is some wear on the bracelet one side (see pictures), but is most likely original to this watch given the wear pattern mated with the case. Very light stretch and still in great shape.

Box and Papers: No box and papers, but I will include a zip up foam lined case for shipping protection purposes.

Price: I am looking for $13,500 shipped via wire within the U.S but given the value, I am not open to paypal unless you are an established trader. No international buyers please.
