Tomorrow's the day to buy if you're been waiting for a Dell Inspiron 6400. Just FYI.

I picked up an iBook on ebay for $300 with an Airport card and a 800mhz processor (poweron was the seller - a company not an individual) It has a 12" screen so it's easier to drag onto a plane than my 15" PowerBook. No complints so far, and I'm picky about Macs.

Alas, they downgraded to a dual-core from Core 2 Duo.

I really dislike Compaq, but for the price you can't go wrong.

This is normally $600 and its "on sale" for $500

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1172880155431

If you are willing to spend a little more money, ACER does a good job. ($600)

These are considered cheaper laptops, as you get what you pay for. But, laptops have been getting so good lately that the above laptops would have been considered nearly top of the line several years ago.

If I were you, I would get one of the above.

Good luck!

BestBuy also has good deals from time to time...maybe you should pop in there sometime and ask when their next laptop special pricing time is to come around

I understand that you are looking for a laptop, but woot.com has a decent desktop for $350 right now--refurbished.

Might not help you, but this thread has sparked some interest in others who may be looking for a computer on the cheap.
